  • SBG Global is giving Direct TV!! I need some clarifications..

Got a flyer yesterday from SBG GLOBAL and they are giving away Direct TV just for an initial deposit of $1000.

The deal is, once you signed-up they will send you a certificate (priority mail) and you will call Direct TV they will install it for you and charge SBG back as long as you are an active customer. Your monthly cable fee will also be covered as long as you play 4 actions a week with a minimnum of $50 a play. That was a good deal for me except for one thing that still confuses up to this moment.

I was a regular customer of SDB Global. Most of us know that they had a problem with the FEDS and was shutdown since it was owned by American people. When I called today (SBG), they told me that they are THE SAME company as SDB but it is now owned by foreign people.
Now, before I send my hard earned money to people I don't know, could someone clarify this for me. And most important thing. Is anyone using this shop or had used them before. How was it? As usual, just wanted to cover all the bases before I get that Direct TV. Damn, I'm dying to get that!!! Thanks in advance.

    underdog,
The "offical" word is they are owned by a foreign company. They are still the same people. All american companies had to take steps to insure they aren't harassed by the US govt. All say they are foreign owned and have the paperwork to prove it, but on the "inside" all is the same.

intheknow - I haven't had a problem with them when they were still SDB. So, what is the verdict now? I really haven't gotten the answer to my other question. Are they worth for a second time around?

UD, I'm probably not much help, but I am also curious to get some feedback on SBG. Like you, I played there when they were SDG, and was happy, but have not played there since they changed ownerwhip or whatever.

Now that they are on the Don Best screen, they would be more useful. I'd like to see them go online.

sportshobby - they are already online. In fact their limit is up to 10K per pop. Everyone was happy when they were still SDB. I would rate them one of the very best back then. Regarding Don Best, I wasn't aware they're on the feed. That helps a bit. Thanks and still waiting for more info.

            UD7,
What I was trying to say to you on the QT was they are exactly the same company with the same people owning. They have to say they are forgeign owned. If you were happy with them before, then you should be happy the second time, nothing has changed., except they are MUCH bigger now.

ITK, thanks for the info. I see them now at www.sbgglobal.com

There isn't a link on "The List" to the left to their website - perhaps Jeff could add it.

I remember when several shops sold ownership to non-U.S. citizens. To the customer, one couldn't tell if it was changing management and financial backing or not. So I generally took a "wait-and-see" attitude. Even WWTS had a change of sorts that caused concern at that time.

UD, what else are you searching for? They are on the List, they are on the Don Best Premium feed, we've been told that they have much of the same management, and they've been in business for a few years (even since the ownership change).

I'm planning on giving them a try.

Does anyone know if the DirectTV promo is IN ADDITION to re-up bonuses? I re-posted with SBG and received a bonus - can I also get the DirectTV?

Well, depending on their mood. Seriously, when I opened up I had an option of getting direct-tv and a bonus. For example, on $2k deposit they will give you $100 bonus and the other is a single cable direct-tv. I just called them last week for re-up and ask if I would get a bonus for it. They said NOPE!!

Thanks for the info Udog. I had been inactive for them for a couple of years. Their bonus offer says to call and see what you are qualified for. I managed to get a somewhat higher percentage - perhaps I'm on the sucker list. Anyway, it worked out probably better than the DirectTV package anyway.

I've been looking at the DirecPC option now available in an unlimited use format for about $50 per month. This seems to be a good option for those not blessed with either cable or DSL options.

                          Udog, check your mail.

sportshobby - we were on the same boat. I was an old client way back when they were still SDB. They gave me 13% for re-signing back. Check your email. Thanks....

I had an in-active account and re-upped today with 5k and was told they were giving me 13% added to my account on the first 4 dimes and I would get the direct tv deal in lieu of the 13% on the last dime. But after thinking this over that means the direct tv is costing me $130 (which is probably not a bad deal) but with the advent of computer listening to the game and live scores I do not know if it was worth it to me .Besides I hardly watch it on regular TV( I am one to just say "GIVE ME THE FINAL SCORES") I may call back and ask them to add $130 to my account instead.
