  • Bowman's the Movie, Part 1

Call me a heretic, but in my humble opinion, before we do a Bettorsworld movie, we could better serve the offshore sportsbetting industry by first doing a Bowman's movie. The Bowman's story is so compelling and mind-boggling that it would, without question, provide the sensationalistic publicity that the offshore industry needs in order to attract hundreds-of-thousands square, new customers.

Consider the following synopsis of the movie, and then try to tell me it wouldn't be a box-office hit:

Gary Bowman helps launch the offshore sportsbetting industry in the mid-'80s. Bowman's becomes a huge success and an industry leader when offshore betting explodes in the mid-to-late-'90s. Gary Bowman, a burgeoning entrepeneur, begins to make and sell world-class cigars. Bowman's, because of lousy management and incompetent BMs, becomes the laughing stock of the off-shore sportsbetting industry.

What'll really makes the movie exciting, however, are all of the sub-plots. For example, there is the Gary Bowman Conspiracy Theory forwarded by controversial Bettorsworld member Reno. According to this utterly brilliant theory, the demise of Bowman's can directly be linked to the possibility that someone was, and is, spiking Gary's personal cigar stash with mind-altering substances that are, in effect, undermining his competence. And then, because of the paranoia induced by the foreign substances, Gary begins to install global positioning system (GPS) chips in complimentary cigars that he sends to his best customers. For example, he installs the chips in cigars that he sends to Reno. Reno, whoremonger that he is, then goes to Asia to screw his brains loose. But Reno, due to his long-time dissolute lifestyle, is nothing in bed without his Viagra, thus rendering his drug-dependent sexual exploits as questionable. Bowman's, in an attempt to undermine Reno--who has become a critic of theirs--locates--via the GPS chips--and hires the Asian whores that Reno screwed. And armed with testimony from these ex-madams, Bowman's attempts, unsuccessfully, to undermine Reno's credibility in Bettorsworld.

Then, respected BW member MLS publicly embarrasses Bowman's by declaring in Bettorsworld that their limit on a Tiger Woods bet is only a minuscule $14. And Bowman's retaliates by stiffing him for over 10 dimes.

Finally, after the MLS stiff-job, everyone in Bettorsworld is critical of Bowman's except for BW member Noholdsbarred (NHB). This naturally raises suspicions that NHB-- who had earlier exercised an uncalled vendetta against Reno--is somehow in cahoots with Bowman's in an attempt to destroy the credibility of the ever-popular Reno.

Now, try to tell me that we don't have the makings of a great movie. For further information about the script-writing, directorship, production, and casting, see the subsequent post, Bowman's the Movie, Part 2.

      Reno,

If Blair Witch Project could make all those millions and IMO it sucked real bad then I think you have a winner on your hands with your Bowmans movie concept. Just based alone on the number of people who have soured on Bowmans lately would give you the necessary audience size to make your movie a blockbuster.

Also, don't forget to promote a sequel to your Bowman's movie called, "On-line betting at Bowmans". The best part about writing and producing this movie is that you don't actually have to do any work. As for your release date on this movie, don't give a specific date no matter how many times the movie critics ask. Just keep saying, "Coming soon to a theatre near you" :-)
