  • New Olympic Employee

OK guys, after 2 pleasurable days of reading your posts and giving a few cents worth of my own I think I should properly introduce myself ... I just arrived in Jamaica last week and will be helping out Spiro at Olympic Sports grow the business, maybe set some odds, just a general operations guy happy to learn about the industry and help promote it.

I've been betting for about 10 years now but only the past 3 or 4 with any degree of success. I come from Prague (where they have plenty of books with weak weak lines on North American Sports, just ask and I can start another thread with many stories if you want). I am a former client of Spiro's, asked him if he needed the help and was pleased when he invited me down.

IMHO, of all the forums I've seen so far (albeit not that many) this one is my favourite so I figure it would be a good a place as any to start chatting. Looking forward!

    Hi

Are you going to be working on soccer?

Any opinions on Sigma Olomouc--Chmel Blsany?

    thanks,
    Shawn

I'll be working on soccer but not so much on the side, more on over/unders. As far as I know Olympic is the only book that posts an Over/Under for almost every European League (as well as even some 2nd and 3rd divisions and also MLS) and I think that type of bet could turn out to be really popular, same as it did in the North American sports.

No opinion on the Olomouc/Blsany game except that it's a toss up and neither scores a lot of goals ... maybe the tie is worth a flutter.

Perpetual Czech, new Bettorsworld members have to answer a question in this forum before they gain respect. Your question is this: What is the correct technical term (in English) for a Czechoslovakian abortion?

          A cancelled check.

(Come on, I've heard them all before ... nothing more original than that? )

O.K, you got that right with no sweat. This your question, a 20-1 one. You get this one right you gained my respect. What is the difference between an Asian woman and an European woman?

                Perpetual,
Welcome to Bettorsworld. POsting and chatting can become a little addictive you know. You have an interesting job. Do you plan on still making a wager now and then or is that kind of a conflict of interest? By the way, what is your opinion of World Bet in the Czech Republic?
OK here's my joke. Ole and Lena from Norway were in a bad car accident. Ole passed away right away and as he arrived at the pearly gates St Peter said hello and told him he had to pass a spelling test to get into heaven. St Peter said spell God. No problem for Ole he spell the vord and enters. Ole being kind of a chatty person stays around for a few minutes to shoot the breeze. After about ten minutes St. Peter asks Ole if he could watch the door while he goes to the rest room. Ole says sure and it isn't two minutes and Lena arrives at the pearly gates. Oly says St. Peter will be right back but left him in charge and you have to spell a word correctly to get in. Lena says what's the vord? Ole says Czechoslovakia.

                  Hmm,

Long name, so abbreve becomes PC

Sure, all entertaining stories like that are good - see Interwetten and Super Bowl, or Penguin's German NBA stories. Love to hear those.

Any info/reviews/stories etc. about the Czech sportsbooks would be cool, too, tipsport - what is that other one? Chance?

                  Etc.

                  Cheers

The number one question has to be why are the operators so rude and some are downright cluless ?( Always seem to be dropping/juggling the phone) Nothing is worst then the operators at *** but olympic's run a close second. However I guess you can't have it all and Spiro is a class act and takes some strong sides on plays and is a giant in this field.

Only noise was my mobile phone and satellite connection

                            bucky,

I'll still bet when I have time but obviously not at Olympic. You know, I am embarassed to say I don't even know anything about WorldBet ... I have honestly never heard anything about them in all my 6 years in Prague. No advertisements, nothing. What's their website? And one piece of advice in case Ole is still there when YOU make it to heaven: it's "CzechoslOvakia"!

                            AV,

I couldn't find either of those stories you mentioned in the archives. Any suggestions? I'm happy to share some good stories and reviews but I'll start a separate topic for that one.

                            krackman,

No question customer service is one of our biggest issues (Spiro knows this) Speaking as a former client I totally see where you're coming from. I'm toying with some ideas (e.g. paying clerks part of their salary based on volume generated) and I'll keep you updated.

Actually, I just found WorldBet myself and quite honestly, it looks a little feeble to me (80-cent line in baseball????) They say they are registered in Anguilla, but I can see Czech fingerprints all over in their bet offers.
