    Jake...

Please don't construe this as a negative post. I'm actually considering signing up. I just have this question for you and others who run similar promotions and I'd like your reply and/or a reply from other stores who do the same thing.

Why on earth advertise "matchplay" bonuses instead of pure bonuses of half the size? Sure sure, it's "to-may-to, to-mah-to" but I'd have to think it does nothing but create confusion.

Agreed, 25% sounds better than 12.5%.

On the flip side, though, at least once a month a misguided soul new to offshore betting posts in here that "Sportsbook XYZ offered so-much-% matchplay, but when I won the (insert nasty adjective here) (insert nastier noun here) only credited my winnings, not the stake." The book gets negative publicity in here if other uninitiated people read the post before someone gets around to posting "that's what matchplay is...". I must admit I would not understand matchplay as readily myself if I hadn't seen it long ago in a casino blackjack promotion.

Not trying to tell you how to market your store, sir. Just wondering: doesn't the hassle from clients who erroneously think they've been ripped off outweigh the glossy bonus figure?

    Thanks,
    Shawn

      Shawn,

Thank you for your very well written and polite post. It does bring up a very valid point, and I will be more than happy to try and clear the air. When a client sees the promotion that we offer, they make a phone call or sign up over the net. Over the net, the rules and regulations for the bonuses are readily available (as, it appears, you found out). Unfortunately, the Customer Service clerks and myself are unable to speak with, and fully explain, the way that the Match Play Bonus works. We could offer a smaller cash percentage, but remember that competition is tough in this industry.
When a client calls and speaks with one of my clerks, that client is fully informed about the way that Match Play works. Our clerks don't let them hang up thinking that it works any other way than the correct way.
I agree that I have seen this situation that you describe many times in my two years as an avid Bettorsworld poster and reader. However, I am sure that you also would agree when I say that those who feel that they have been tricked are in a small minority. We will not try and deceive any clients, ever. We also want to offer the most that we are able to and this is just a way to do it. I hope that you understand what I am trying to say. If not, let me know by posting or by calling 800-214-1788. I am out of the office tomorrow, so I will get back to you on Sunday. Best of luck to all!

        Jake...

Thanks for your reply. Best of luck on your promotion, sir, and continued success for you and your store. Enjoy the day off (in this business there aren't that many).

        Cheers,
        Shawn

          I agree with you Shawn

Often these places don't even include the words "match play" they explain after they already have your cheese.
