Interesting topic and the replies to it.
I understand there is a 20 cent line in hoops/football. I am thinking ok these games have a spread and players readily accept a 20 cent line.
Why in a sport where there is no spread do players readily accept this?
Is it becasue these books that deal 20 cent lines say if you don't like it go elsewhere?
Or do the players not shop around or just don't know?
In Scotts reply, that is amazing to me that guys bettors smply arent that educated as to what is going on...
Then again, thats why the books are in business I suppose.
Great replies, any comments from bookybashr, reality or johnnyd, this should be right up your alley, I would like to hear the BM side....

thank god I post anonymously, because I about to start a sh*tstorm.
The biggest reason is money. The increase of off-shore books has deluded the talent level of BM's. Just like the expansion of MLB has done to pitching. Only a talented BM can run a true 10 cent line and generate a profit, even a small one. a true 10 cent line breaks down like this
190 take back 180
195 take back 182
20 cent takeback through 290
30 cent takeback through 300
I am blessed to have such a BM with us.
I'm not saying that BM's that run a 20 cent line are not good. Far from it, the man who runs what the market will bear is a good business man, and will make more money in what has always been the worst sport for the book. The larger books with the largest players are the ones that took the biggest hit last year. a real bloodbath. I expect many to bow to customer pressure and resume the 10 cent graduated line if the this baseball season continues like it has and we have a good football season.
