While we're on the subject, can anyone tell me why DBC's stock has gone into the toilet?

I use to bother the HELL out of you...
Talked to you on many occasions when you worked for BOWMANS. Remember the interview
you did on tv for CANADIAN FOOTBALL?
How about the "BIG STORE" in COSTA RICA
WHERE THE LINE ORIGINATES-takes a lot of
nerve to get the "SEND OUT" on a game at-40
and open it -41-that's what I call taking a
        stand.

Old Man...The GCB outlawed portable phones in books but I didnt like them anyway. We are talking different times and I would protect my allday, everyday customers. They woild stay with us just waiting for a strange # but a mobile phone guy would wreck the board for them then leave. If everyone had acess to them like today, great, but that wasnt the case...Scotty

Ronbets / Scott L...DBC bought Roxys old LVSC(Las Vegas Sports Consultants). DBC is a Silicon Valley outfit that deals mostly in financial info I think. Anyways, they just wanted more info for their tickers etc. so they came up with the sports idea. They were not up to it and were bought out by sportsline.com as far as the LVSC part of it...Scotty

Thanks, Scott, for both the info and the cruise down memory lane.

When I established my money-moving/scalping-middling group in the mid-80s, we copied what the Jeff N. group--whom I had worked for--was doing. Like Jeff N.,we equipped our runners (messenger bettors) with Motorola radios and stuck them in the main joints, such as the Stardust. Because there was no Don Best service at that time, we had a huge competitive advantage over most players. When the GCB outlawed the radios and cell phones in the sportsbooks, that was the beginning of the end for me. Jeff N. stuck it out for a couple more years after I quit, and then he, too, left the business. Artie, through incomparable contacts and virtually unlimited front money, became a super success...until he crashed and burned, thereby officially signifying the bitter end of the messenger-bettor era.
