REALITY

My take:

REALITY has made some good, solid posts that I have learned from. When he sticks to substantive issues concerning what sportsbooks do, or should do, he seems to speak with some authority. He had been gradually moving up my list of most valuable Bettorsworld posters.

However, this manic “there’s no room for the both of us around here!” attitude that he arbitrarily takes toward certain Bettorsworld regulars--while mildly entertaining in small doses--is really pretty silly. What’s the point? To browbeat AussieVamp2 and reno with so many antagonistic, repetitive posts that they eventually go away and he can be King of the Castle? (I find a fair number of AussieVamp2’s posts incomprehensible, mostly because I often have no idea what sport he’s even talking about, but I’d never dream of calling for a referendum on whether he or I should leave. And I enjoy the vast majority of reno’s posts.)

REALITY allegedly has (and probably really does have) a great deal of experience and knowledge of this business. If his maturity ever rises to anything approaching that same level, he could be a real Bettorsworld all-star.

As for who’s “winning” this titanic struggle between REALITY and reno, I guess it all depends on how you define winning. Reno has made an occasional measured, reasonable response to REALITY’s tirades, and that’s probably the classiest way to handle them (though you could also make a case for ignoring them entirely). So I suppose I’d say reno is winning at this point.

I hope they both stay. They both have a lot to offer. I’ll probably at least skim the flames that go back and forth (like slowing down to look at a car wreck by the side of the highway), but hopefully it’ll be over soon and they can get back to talking about the substantive matters that might actually do Bettorsworld readers some good.

By the way, I will confess to being tickled by REALITY’s insistence on thumbing his nose at “netiquette” by using all capitals. (Kudos to OLD MAN here, too.) I especially enjoy his lame explanations for it. Best of all is when people take him seriously enough to actually scold him about it and/or explain to him how to use the caps-lock key. Those exchanges are the funniest part of the whole ridiculous controversy.
