One major problem with Grand Central. I used to be with them. If you bet horses don't be one second later than 3 minutes before THEIR determination of post time. Their site times out in a "wink" and if you play the ponies you constantly have to wade through re-logging the site which further screws up getting in on time. Their site will even say "BET ACCEPTED" and they will still CANCEL any winners even though you are well before post. I had a lot of winners negated that were substantially before post (2-3 minutes) and got tired of them keeping my money on losing bets that came in after the three minute to post rule. I would be there today if they just refunded or "cut off" all bets after a certain time factor. Again----just another method of saying "heads I win----tails you lose". Bet wins---they refund . Bet loses they keep. NOT TOO GOOD GRAND CENTRAL!!!!

UNTIL THEY CHANGE THIS UNSAVORY ASPECT OF THEIR BOOKMAKING POLICY THEIR WHOLE OPERATION IS OFF LIMITS TO ME!!! Things like this warn me about the overall philosophy of their business operation.

Did you talk to anyone in management about this..These guys(as far as I know)are pretty straight..A lot of places take races off 2-5 mins. before post as it's no fun getting past posted. But if your late they should refund losers as well as winners. If you can tell me exactly what happened I'm sure I can help you with this.

        DEVIL

AT this point it is no big deal. If you go to their horseracing page they STILL have a 3 minute WARNING disclaimer that they keep your funds if bet comes in after 3 minutes to post. They had a great number of tracks offered, but their "3 minute rule" turned me off and left a bad taste in my mouth. Don't cancel the winners and keep the losers. Thats horse***t, not bookmaking.

Philosophically I can't find much excuse for that. If someone is chronically late and it makes their business uncomfortable ask that customer to leave. Don't hammer honest people that have their bets in clearly before post time by confiscating their losing play and canceling their wins.

Thanks DEVIL but I'm not going to ask you to interceed to get me MY short amount of retained money back money back while their pulling the same stuff there on a daily basis every day with everyone else who plays there.

The idea is not to bail me out because we know each other thru this forum but to change something that is inherently unfair and WRONG!!

If they did away with that policy and simply shut all plays off at 3 minutes to post or a predermined time like other books, then you wouldn't be praying for your horse to win and then after he does----start praying that they will not reject your bet even though the computer said "BET ACCEPTED"

I liked their numerous tracks and their site was fairly easy to navigate and if they correct this situation I would probably re-up with them.

Dot Mix and all other Grand Central Customers,

Our software automatically grades all horse wagers less than 3 minutes to post, over the INTERNET, as either losers or refunds. We allow you to call in a horse wager up to ONE minute of post in the event you think it is past the 3 minute cut-off.

Our sportsbook's software (same as Olympic's), is designed to grade in this fashion, Grand Central does not set the parameters, the software designer does. That is why we post the 3 minute disclaimer. However, I will contact our software provider to change the settings to refund all past posted wagers and not just the winners. I agree that this puts the player in a no-win situation if he unintentionally past posts.

Version 2 of our software will remedy these problems and its due out at anytime. We will offer:

            1. Exotics on-line
            2. Won't be able to place a horse wager if it is past the cut-off time.
            3. Bettor will be able to make multiple horse wagers

Our time-out feature has been corrected and our site never times out unless there is a line move on the game you want to bet. If you have been on the site awhile, simply click on "UPDATE LINES" and you will receive the new lines.

If any of our players have a concern or a problem we would like to hear from you either by e-mail or telephone and not to happen upon your concerns by reading a public forum.

SOS has a similar rule for horses. If you unintentionlly past post, you lose, if the horse wins, you push. At one time they had the same 3 minute rule as GC. The best thing to do is avoid giving them any horse action unless you are sure about post time.

In your above post you close with the following statement:

                >>"If any of our players have a concern or a problem we would like to hear from you either by e-mail or telephone and not to happen upon your concerns by reading a public forum." <<
                ============================================

                Uh Peter ....puhleese.

I appreciated your response and details about what you planned to to about this long term situation I spelled out in a previous post, but don't act as though this forum was the ONLY TIME and FIRST TIME you've been made aware by players that your "3 minute policy" is blatantly WRONG, UNETHICAL and akin to stealing!! Don't ruin your good first impression by taking that sorry agressive posture that you wish you had been told personally!

Come on Peter-----All the people here didn't fall off of a turnip truck yesterday!

If what you say materializes I will probably come back on board. Other than your "3 minute confiscation of funds" rule my experience was OK.

                  Shifty Shiek

Thanks for informing me. I've never been with them but had considered it.

If the computer is programmed to cancel your "late" winning bet and return your money, it can certainly cancel your "late" losing bet and refund the money.

People complaining about "policy" injustices individually very seldom get anywhere. You normally get the "Well---thats the way it is and if you don't like it too bad". When a legitimate problem situation is brought public there is often a different reaction from the sportsbook. This thread has proved that!

Dot, I used to love the horses but now I only make token bets on the big races. I bet a Breeders Cup race with SOS, the horses were getting loaded into the gate at the time of my bet. I didn't past post but it was inside the "3 minute period". Since my horse lost I didn't complain. SOS is a great book so they may have paid out had my horse won. At that that time they had the 3 minute rule.

                      Peter,

Dot is entitled to post whatever she wants to, complaints or otherwise. A big communications world out there now, and even specialist sites purely for complaints about companies
