I saw the same thing you are talking about. Are you sure they weren't talking about players that hit 50 homers and their teams finished below .500 for the season?

Stargell never even hit 50 once. McGwire, Sosa and Ruth are no-brainers. The fourth one is probably Ralph Kiner.
