An anestheseiologist and sportsbook agent named shamus has reccommended via mail the sportsbook caribi. Ive found olympic lines up first well before cris, however am always looking, therefore does caribi get them up close to the time olympic does. thanks

Greg, good try on spelling anesthesiologist correctly. Although many people (not you,of course) have diarrhea--anally or orally--very few can correctly spell it. I thought Shamus was the killer whale at Sea World in San Diego. Maybe an animal rights activist got him a job as an agent.

If you are betting baseball, stick with Caribi instead of Olympic or CRIS. Caribi still has a 10-cent line, whereas Olympic and CRIS will stick you with a 20-cent line.

Actually only cap colleges. However with the myth of you strictly scalping being debunked with recent posts on some actual baseball handicapping astuteness I would certainly play any recomendations of yours. Sharing with us some line value plays would not hurt your ability to scalp them later as well as perhaps adding jingle to some empty pockets. In any case your contributions may be deemed valuable (in the money cant buy realm) independent of your reluctance to share some picks.

Greg, thank you for the compliment. Whether I'm able to get my ex-partner's computer picks or not--I'll talk to him when he returns from Mexico--at some point, just to see how well I can do, I want to devote myself to handicapping baseball, and possibly other sports. However, I already work 80 hours a week scalping, and I just don't have the time or energy necessary to keep proper records and do a thorough job handicapping.

Reno, I know each of us see the green grass on the other side of the fence. Heck, I've even scalped a few baseball games this year out of curiosity.

But it takes about 80 hours per week for handicapping. Now you're telling me that it also takes 80 hours per week to scalp effectively. I just don't know how I can find that kind of time.

              Sportshobby,

What you have to realize in the scalping business is the terrific stress involved. Imagine sweating out a game where if the dog wins you make a buck or two. On the flip side you break even if the chalk gets there. The risk is frightening!

Reno s including in the 80 hours time for those oriental massages by those sexy masseuses with hands of stone.

Ron, thanks for yet another late night laugh...Reno and Sportshobby, I do both; now I realize why I'm so damn tired all the time! 80 hours of handicapping, 80 hours of scalping, and 80 hours of posting!

I agree in scalping there is stress. But, really, how can you stress about a no lose situation. Maybe I have this whole scalping thing wrong. But when you scalp isn't it a no lose situation. If the dog wins you win but if the fav wins then you push. That's not to bad. I bet all the bookmakers could sleep really well at night if that was the case for them.

As for betting with the 20 cent books. In baseball I can understand that. But don't put those books out of the question when it comes to football and basketball. They are all great books and worth playing with. If you give them up in those certain seasons because of the 20 cent line that would be an unjustice. All of these books are highly recomended and I would play with them in a second. Don't let the 20 cent line discourage you to play with them. Hell you can sometimes get a middle with the 20 cent line. Only sometimes though. hehe.

                  Good luck

There is a lot of stress in scalping. First, when a move hits, you gotta fight to get down at the "original number." Everyone goes for the same number at the time. Second, if you take big leads on negative positions that you expect to turn positive by the end of the day, you can be wrong and endure the stress of negative scalps, from which you can only burn rather than earn. And there is constant second-guessing as to when to take a number and when to buy back. And if you leave the Screen to take a dump, you can miss a move that even exceeds the size of your excrement.

Ronbets, you have me laughing too. But I can see Reno's point on stress. I spotted a scalp just before post the other day. After quickly checking the clock (yes, 5 minutes to get it done) I proceeded to take one side for the maximum. Then I called to get the other side - line busy, busy. Then when it answered I got a brief recording. Then upon answering, the clerk told me the computers were slow . . .

By this time some of the lines are starting to disapear from the screen - I'm getting a bit nervous. Maybe not as nervous as Reno would, since I'm somewhat used to the risk. But I didn't want to be in that position. Then the game showed started on the screen, and the clerk said the game had been closed. . . .

Without ever missing a beat, the kind young lady from WWTS realized that the delay had been on their end, and quickly got permission to REOPEN the game so that I could bet it. What class!

Reno, You have me rolling on the floor laughing! This 'missing a move caused by an unavoidable dump' is probably most common on the weekends. If I'm out late I'll finish 'capping the card around 4-5AM EST. I'll wake up at 10, and of course I need a cup of coffee to get me started. Usually the coffee does it's thing by 11, but sometimes the 'BOMB' hits at 12:45! Would a spoonful of Haagen Daaz in the coffee expedite this process?...Tincup, I cap and scalp, so I'll usually put a couple of extra units on the side a like. Why bet a nickel on the Rockies-105 when you could have 2dimes on them+105 and 3 nickels on SF+105, decreasing the amount of your loss if you're on the wrong side? I'd expound more on ths topic, but have to GO now!
