  • question for ajax50

I've been reading past posts and you speak a lot about being a contrarian. My strategy is to wait till the end of the week (football) and bet against all line moves except of course steam plays. My question is how can you pick the public moves from the steam moves? Watch the screen all week or is there some better way? Thanks

I really wouldnt consider myself a contrarian,I believe someone else called me that. From my point of view, taking the best number possible is my goal.Sometimes that number is the opener on Sunday nite at Olympic or CRIS while other times it at 12:58 est at kick.If you like a side than you must have the best number on that game.If a game opens 7 and you like the dog and before you know it you missed the 7 and the game is 5.5 say, I would pass on the game and hope the line drifts back to 7.I take many chances by taking a lead on a game I like so I can get the best possible number and if the lines moves into me(it does sometimes),than I lay the number I took and grab a higher number.Pay attention to Don Best line history as it pertains to line movement thruout the week. After doing this for awhile you can get a feel for the way a line will move and more often than not it works out fine.I really dont differentiate between public moves and steam moves,I really dont care as long as at kick I have the best of the number. If a line opens 5 on sunday and by kickoff its 7.5 I would not hesitate taking the dog at all.

Thanks. You're right. Someone else called you a contrarian.
