  • Server crash update

It has been more than a week now since players have been able to login to the SQL server that supports 5Dimes and several other books in the Unified Gaming group. Anyone who has accounts with these books should also be aware by now that redemptions have not been processed, since the accounting systems are apparently tied into the same database that is currently inaccessible.

I spoke with managers at two of the affected shops this morning and have been told that the hardware has been installed and that the systems are being tested today. They are cautiously optimistic that the system will be operational by tomorrow afternoon. Lets all keep our fingers crossed.

Once this immediate problem is resolved, I would hope the software developers at Unified Gaming would explore ways to have an independent database with player account information that can be accessed if the wagering software is inaccessible. I can live a week or so without being able to wager online at these books, but not having access to funds is another story.

If anyone has more information about the current status, or comments about what went wrong and how to improve things so this doesn't repeat, please post.

    Thanks.

Cannot believe that more has not been posted about this Unified Gaming server crash. I am a 5dimes customer and have had a dozen explanations regarding the situation. Why no backup systems???? I certainly hope when/if they are back up, the data is correct. What kind of book holds your money hostage for weeks because of a "server crash". Damn little explanations make any sense of this mess.

This is a very unfortunate situation for sure. 5Dimes is a great book and they have fallen victim to some faulty networking hardware. The thing that has me very uncomfortable is the fact that they haven't stepped up in this forum to keep everyone informed on a DAILY basis. No posting from them tells me something is VERY wrong. Could it actually be that all account info is really lost? I, for one, am very concerned.

I have an account with Abetz which is a unified book and share the same office as 5 dimes all seems to be well there.

I am concerned as well. One would think that they backup their data on a daily basis. Wouldn't one????

an email from one of the affected sportsbooks:

            --------------------------------------------
We apologize for the inconvenience but our entire system is down. We could
be down through the weekend. Our headquarters is frantically trying to
salvage all of our customer data, including all balances. Since this has
never happened before it is difficult to give an ETA. We apologize for this
fiasco, and we are doing everything in our power to save as much if not all
the data trapped in our hard drives that went down.
We will be e-mailing all of our customers as soon as we know the outcome,
for now we can not process any redemptions until we are fully operational.
            --------------------------------------------

has a sportsbook ever permanently lost any data concerning balances and wagers? I wonder how matters would be resolved if
            the records cannot be reconstructed.

i am worried not only about this possibility, but also the likelihood of
mass redemptions even if the system is
eventually restored. The lack of a backup
system and procedure does not exactly inspire confidence.

              Krackman...

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought Abetz was located outside San Jose (CR) and physically several miles away from where these other books share office space. Obviously, their hardware seems to be just fine, which indicates that they do not share server space with 5Dimes.

I agree with all of of you that this entire situation has been mishandled BIG TIME!!

I hope BOOKYBASHR will come here and explain things firsthand instead of his players having to fish for secondhand information. I was told the other day that there was no loss of data regarding account info, and now some are suggesting that may not be the case. I think we are all owed a better explanation than what we've received so far and the explanation should probably come from Unified Gaming's top management, instead of individual operators.

They are ALL in the same building. The two mentioned above are both in the same office, within the same building.

5Dimes assured me that the system was back on-line and would be available once they finished re-entering data tonite. Very curious to see my balance here.

5dimes and other unified books still not up. Have yet to see a post from Unified officials. Depending on how many of the Unified Gaming books have been down, I would assume that at the minimum $10million plus in deposits is earning money for someone; however, certainly not their customers. When redemptions are finally paid, Unified will have had the use of these deposits for many weeks. This is much more of a gambling experience than I had in mind when making my deposit.

Feel free to post here if you have an account involved in the server crash and you are back on-line. 5D says some people are back. My gut tells me they are bluffing for more time. The thing to remember here is that most of us are willing to allow this problem to run it's course if the books ...
a.) keep us posted on a daily basis
b.) don't lie about the situation

I really had no intentions of bashing these books, but shucking and jiving thru a problem is a quick way to draw criticism. Will someone from the books or Unified PLEASE step up and be professional about this matter?

                        SoCal...

Your post intrigued me so I tried loggin in at 3:00 pm EDT. No dice. I called and they said that accounts were still being audited for accurate balances and that they were "hoping" to post lines for tonight's baseball. If I were taking action on when they'd be up and running today it might go something like this:

                        6:43 pm EDT (June 22nd)

                        over -145
                        under +125

                        (buck limit on the over) ;}

Have tried login several times this morning. Getting "system maintenance" message the same as yesterday. What is going on??? If my money weren't at stake, this would actually be humorous. Hope someone eventually has an answer although I cannot imagine what it would be at this point.

                            Intrepid...

I'm sending my resume down to 5Dimes to see if they need an on-sight network administrator. With the amount of money they're losing paying overhead (phones, utilities, salaries, etc.) they could have paid someone to setup their own SQL server.

Seriously, I'm quite dismayed that BOOKYBASHR hasn't come into this forum at all to explain what is going on. 5Dimes is one of the largest Unified Gaming licensees and I would expect them to show some leadership in the face of such adversity. Unfortunately, in this business, a reputation that takes months and years to build, can all be offset by a situation like this that has been mishandled.

No one at this point is looking for excuses, just an explanation of what happened and details on what is being done to make sure this never happens again. I don't think that is too much to ask.

I feel fortunate to have withdrawn my funds from 5 Dimes a month ago. I, too, am AMAZED at the relative lack of attention that has been brought to this subject.

                              Good luck to all.
