When I first started scalping, I'd sit in Churchill Downs and wait for a guy named Texas John, who now hangs out at the Horseshoe, to bet. Little Bobby, the Churchill BM, would jump the lines, I'd bet them, and then bicycle to the Barbary Coast and Bally's to bet the other side. Franzi, who ran the Barbary did not take much money, probably a dime on sides. But he was always curious, always asking questions. He wanted to know everyone's M.O. I've got a friend who was the main Vegas mover for the Koshers for several years. I'll ask him what he knows about Franzi.
