  • Question for 5dimes : Bonus

Recently a friend of mine opened an account at 5 dimes and made a depsoit, however, we are pretty angry about your new "bonus policy".

"For all new accounts, you need to play 3 times of your depsoit to get the 10% match-play bonus".

I can understand if you need the players to play 3 times of the deposit before they can cashout, but to play 3 times of the initial deposit to get a 10% match-play bonus?

    What is that!

My friend is just a small player and his account is going to dry out very quick, please tell me how is he going to play 3 times of his initial deposit in order to get that 10% match-play bonus?

    Isn't this pretty ridiculous?

Is it true that you guys just changed it the last several days because of the "Boomer situation"?

    AYCE,

The new software that was installed by the Unified Gaming books in the last few weeks may have the 3X your deposit set as a default. I'm sure this can be overidden by an administrator, but I've had the same offer extended by a number of the Unified Gaming books and the 3X your deposit policy appears to be the new standard.

Maybe Tony or someone from 5Dimes can come here and explain it better, but from a players point of view, I just wanted to state that this new policy is not unique to 5Dimes.

      Bette Middler,

I don't know. But you can check islandcasino and sportbet out, they still have $50 for $200 bonus policy stated in their website, and thats not a match-play bonus.

As I said, I don't know when did they (5dimes) chang it. I used to know them have 10% bonus (not match-play) plus 5% bonus parlay bet.

But this new policy is really ridiculous.

        AYCE,

Perhaps the new player bonus structures at Island and Sportbet ($50 for $200 deposit) are different than the 3X your deposit bonuses that I am referring to. The new bonus structure I noticed just seemed to coincide with the software upgrades that were installed by most of the books in the Unified Gaming group within the past few weeks.

I actually don't think it is ridiculous to request a 3 times your deposit level of play in order to receive the bonus. It would certainly be unheard of for a casino to comp a player a bonus worth his average bet on three plays, would it not? I think the policy is fair, but like you eluded to in your first post, if you drain your account before you can reach that level of play, than the bonus must wait until the player reloads his account. Certainly there must be a way to give a player his bonus if he loses his deposit before he qualifies under the 3X policy. On that point, your concern is quite valid.

As I said, the $50 for $200 bonus for sportbet and island is NOT new, it has been used since a long, long time ago and it is the satndard for most of the Unified gaming books.

I am well awared that 5 dimes have different bonus policy than the other Unified gaming books BUT I don't know they have changed to something like this recently.

To play 3x as your initial deposit before you can cash out your bonus is very resonable.

But to play 3x of your deposit for the new accounts to get a 10% match-play bonus is something that I have never heard of.

For my friend, its just a very small amount of money and I have no intention to fight it to death with 5 dimes. But I just want to say this is a very bad move by 5 dimes and its pretty unfair.

Especially if you want to attract new small-bettor customers.

Its a bonus. How could a bonus be unfair?

              AYCE,

I did not mean to suggest that the $50 for $200 policy at Island and Sportbet is new. Rather, I was referring to it as the bonus for "new players".

Regarding 5Dimes, I believe the 3X match play bonus IS new. I opened my account with them this past winter and received a straight up 10% bonus on my initial deposit plus a smaller bonus on one or two of my reloads.

The point I was trying to make is that I believe the new version of the Unified Gaming software automates the delivery of bonuses based on a qualification standard that can be adjusted by the individual sportsbooks. It appears that the 3X match play standard may be a "default" setting for the software, or one that the individual operators have chosen to implement as a NEW standard.

I have received a number of promotional emails over the past couple of weeks from within the Unified Gaming group promoting the new casino games and offering "match play" bonuses for existing players. I DID NOT know that one of the sportbooks was implementing a match play bonus for new players as well.

If 5Dimes has switched from a straight up 10% cash bonus for new players to a match play bonus, then that is definitely a new policy for them, to which I agreed with you earlier, that your concern has merit.

I can certainly understand, however, and have no problem with an online sportsbook that qualifies its bonuses based on a level of match play. However, given the recent descriptions of bonus abuses alleged in earlier threads, I'm beginning to wonder how long it will be before the idea of offering bonuses to players dries up completely. If a marketing promotion designed to lure new customers into one's shop results in dishonest attempts to abuse the system, the bonus system itself will be the ultimate casulty.

                IBTom,

Bonus is a way of marketing to get new customers. But if you just saying you are going to giveaway bonus but actually you won't need to, its pretty misleading and most of the time, people at here will call them scam or fraud.

Considering the purpose of the bonus is to attract more regular bettors (suckers), not the pros. To set up a rule/policy like this is pretty unfair. If I'm a small bettor and made a deposit of $200, normally I will just make some $5 to $10 parlay or teasar bets and maybe some $20 to $50 straight bets. It could easily take about 2 to 3 weeks to dry out my account.

And they require me to play at least $600 for me to have that $20 match-play bonus?

I thought most places will have bonus for losers and it just doesn't make sense that you need to win to be qualified to get a match-play bonus.

Bette, I agree with you, the current bonus systems with most of the books are having so many holes and it will not be a surprise to see there are guys out there taking advantage of it. But until you (the books) can find a better one to protect yourself with clear definition/rules, its your responsibility to take care of it.

Meanwhile, having something like this just doesn't cut it either.

The New 5 Dimes bonus system was implemented at the same time the software update occurred (about a month ago). It is designed to deter the following:
                    1) "Bonus hunters" make deposits in multiple sportsbooks offering bonuses for signups.
                    2) They play the books against each other (usually looking for scalps or middles in the process).
                    3) After wagering their total balance on 2-3 plays, they cash out of the book where the balance of the money is. They've got all the bonus money in hand. They may have hit a side or a middle in the process as well.

A 3X deposit wagering minimum before a bonus is earned scares away this "bonus hunter" type of action. Asking a customer to play 3 times his deposit before a sportsbook "GIVES" him money is not too much to ask.
If the customer loses his balance before his bonus has been earned, he/she can call 5 Dimes customer service and the bonus will be applied immediately.

5 Dimes used to offer a 10% flat bonus as well as a 5% parlay bonus at 13/1 odds on a 3 team parlay or 31/1 on a 4 team parlay. That bonus is the type that a new casino has to offer to build a customer base in this industry at the current time. 5 Dimes has built that base.

5 Dimes now offers a 10% match play bonus along with the 5% parlay bonus. 5 Dimes also offers bonuses to existing customers at random times throughout the year.

Beyond all the bonuses, the amount of wagering options available at 5 Dimes far surpass the competition. The following are some of the wagering options currently offered:
                    1) Intermission Hockey Wagering
                    2) NBA halftime wagering includes an adjusted ML, a 3rd quarter line, and multiple player scoring matchups.
                    3) Golf wagering for all 4 rounds of each tournament.
                    4) French Open tennis matchups for every round.
                    5) Soccer odds with a lower hold percentage than any other book in the world.
                    6) Wagering on the Dow Jones daily.

If anyone has any further questions regarding wagering options or bonuses,
5 Dimes customer service is always available to answer them.
