    Chris,

Okay. So you won't commit to 3 dimes all the time. I understand that. Can you please give me a criteria that I MUST have when I ask you for a line.

What is the least amount you will offer me when you quote me a line. Is it 1 dime sides and totals, 1 dime sides and 500 totals. I have to have some guidelines as to what I can count on, otherwise I would never post up with a book that quotes me a line and hasn't predefined at least the minimum amount they will let me bet.

It's like hanging a carrot out there and pulling it away, I've not the time or inclination to play those games. Tell me how much I CAN COUNT ON, not how much you may or may not take.

I'm not trying to be adversarial here, every book I deal has GUARANTEED limits, with the caveat "you can always ask for more" and you may or may not get it, however at every book I deal with I know I can get a certain amount down guaranteed at the number they quote me.

I've been with VC for over a year and have found a lot of value there.

They have a bit of a problem in baseball in that they post some super square lines on their website that they won't let you near if they peg you as being sharp.

That's a business decision and I don't have a big problem with it as I have said here about other places, but I know it's frustrating for people - particularly big scalpers like Boomer and Reno - who see the lines and sign up thinking they can have at them.

But beyond that VC is the best place I have come across yet for soccer or futures. Compare their golf odds on a Wednesday night with anything out there and you won't find any stronger numbers on the top 10 or 20 players in the field anywhere. Or follow their futures on series as they unfold. Last week they had the Lakers at -300 after they went up 2-1 on Portland. I couldn't find anything under 400 anywhere.

VC is definately not a scalpers paradise, but it's a top quality shop that has a lot to offer.

This is what I am trying to get accross. If you want a book that is the same as the next one then we are not it, although you won't have any problems finding one. If you want a book that tries to show a little individuality, then I think that we fit the bill.
If you want to play into distinctive numbers on football and Hoops and play fair future books or prices on all matchups during a series, NBA or Hockey, then this is a good solid place.

Reno, the word 'imperialism' is still associated with the British Empire most of the time. Being under British rule has benefitted all countries. In fact I really believe that the US would be a much better country today if it had remained under British rule.

First of all, we don't have so many drugs problems and such rampant crime. We have metal detectors at airports, not schools.

Our airline is one of the best in the world, and our planes don't go diving into the ocean as often. Plus we don't have to pay for drinks on internal flights.

More importantly, gambling here is legal. In fact it is part of our culture. Hell, we invented gambling. And as far as taxes go, we don't have to pay any taxes on profits. Moreover, we don't have to report any winnings whatsoever.

Call it what you want. I like to call it democracy. Although the word might appear in many US history books, I'm sure it is a foreign concept to many Americans, expecially nowadays. I'm sure Jay Cohen would agree with me.

One more thing, our police force is regarded as the best in the world. They have the full respect of the people because they are truly there to help you, not harass you. Actually, our police force is the only one in the entire world that doesn't carry guns. They simply don't need to...

As far as the Caribbean is concerned, I think that it is a great place for sportsbooks to be based. Obviously places like Dominicana have gained a bad reputation over time, but places like Antigua are top-class. I deal with two places in Antigua. One is Intertops, the other is William Hill (who are moving there this month). Both are as solid as they come.

Chris, you stated "Max on sides is $3,000 but less will sometimes be offered. I can't quite figure out why such a hard time is being given over such a simple rule."

The problem is that the way you've stated it, we still don't know what the limit is.

So many times we've seen a book start out with a generous limit and then reduce them if you win.

For many players, the limits are not a concern. But for a player who wants to bet a few dimes on a game, it's really a waste of time trying to play a book that only takes one nickel.

Chris, dont take this the wrong way as I have played with VC for about one year now and will continue to play in the future.Your clerks are competant and its so hard to get aggravated and upset when speaking to a pleasant sounding person with a Brittish accent.Usually if I dont like a number at a book I just hang up but VC clerks are way too nice. That being said I just played 2 baseball games for 2 dimes each. One was approved while the other was halved to one dime? Why? You cant play moves at your store due to the phone delay so I dont understand why my play got cut in half.I will say this happens more than occasionally and is frustrating. On the other hand thank you for 7.5 on the super bowl.Chris 3000/1000 should be guaranteed.

                  chris, good point

in reno's country you can't even walk down the street and wander in to the pub to place a legal bet - he does keep complaining about it and considering leaving, so can't like it that much can't even handle their beer until they are 21, either

                    Bob,

VC is not even close to the best for soccer by any stretch of the imagination.

10 cent Baseball lines all good for 10 Dimes.
All opening round Euro 2000 matches at 6% all good for 10 Dimes.

10 Dimes is the set amount you will get.
Sometimes we will be able to accomodate you for more all you need do is ask.

                        Sportshobby-

Thanks for explaining more clearly what I was referring to when I said "another book for Suckers only----others need not apply."

I'm not saying VC is the only one, but all too many of these places move the goal posts after they profile your player type and determine if you may beat them or are pulling winning play from somewhere. Most books are so used to beating the player to death that when one shows up and demonstrates the potential to win some money they immediately "flag" the player as a "wiseguy" or someone getting secret info from somewhere. They never give a good handicapper and/or smart player credit for beating them square up, but opt to move the goal posts by changing lines and limits or booting the player. This is what I mean by my "suckers only wanted" statement and I stand by that statement.

Cons---without knowing you I would guess old VC has always been super nice to you, and probably has been dipping into your pockets and smiling for many a year.

Cons, "imperialism" is a synonym for "neo-colonialism." And yes, the U.S would probably be far better off if we'd remained a colony. And I periodically wear my red coat to remind myself of this fact. Anything for legalized sportsbetting.

Furthermore, many American guys are uncouth, uncultured slobs. We lack the refinement and social graces that Englishmen are blessed with. The only thing we have over Englishmen is that, unlike you, we don't suffer from the brain damage caused by heading soccer balls.

Chris, some of the Don Best books move on air, and some don't. Some try to hold up a bettor, and some don't. The biggest and best Don Best books don't move on air and don't try to stall players. However, every scalper needs non-clone sportsbooks that are off the "Grid." Hopefully, Victor Chandler will prove to be such a book.

I'm a scalper, seemingly the lowest form of sportsbetting life. However, what people fail to understand is that I do this "work" out of the goodness of my heart. Like the Guardian Angels, guys who do what cops do for nothing, my goal in life is to serve sportsbooks by making sure their numbers don't get out of whack. Consider me a "centrist," a Buddha wannabe on the Middle Path who considers it his dharma to regulate the sportsbetting marketplace by "scalping" baseball games to re-establish the Norm. If I make a few bills while serving the sportsbetting community, it is only to help cover my operating expenses. Like the Catholic Church, I'm a non-profit organization. The bottom line is this: If you periodically have numbers out of whack that I can "normalize" for you, then we can maintain an excellent working relationship. The sooner you can offer real-time odds, the sooner I can be of service to Victor Chandler.

With chapters ranging from Middling (money and power), to How to spend the Profits (travel and sex), plus an introduction by Boomer on Finding a Good Out (intrigue and corruption), the book would be an instant best seller no doubt.
