  • Sportsbetting.com has ripped me off!

    Here’s the case:

I’m a small bettor ($50-100) and bet mostly on Auto Racing. On Wednesday, I bet $50 on a NASCAR Busch series Carquest 300 matchup (race runs 5/27/2000) at www.sportsbetting.com . I took Matt Kenseth to beat Michael Waltrip. Felling confident, I added another $50 wager on that same prop Friday Morning. Come Friday afternoon, Waltrip had crashed and would not be starting the race.

I E-mailed sportsbetting.com to inform them of the case and tell that they had the wager still listed as available on their selections. Their response for my favor? To tell me that I had lost my wagers placed on Kenseth over Waltrip because Waltrip did not qualify! I can understand declaring the bet to not have any action and give to a refund but to declare that I lost because the driver I bet AGAINST did not qualify is beyond any logic I can comprehend. Then, to make matters worse, they are as I write this, still taking wagers on that matchup. Anyone who is not aware that Waltrip has not qualified will instantly lose their wager under this ruling.

This is the equivalent of knowing that a baseball game has been rained out, declaring both sides a loser and then still taking wagers on game in which they’ve declared that both sides have lost.

Thanks for listening all as I had to get this off my chest. When all my pending wagers are settled over the weekend, I'm done with this scam. Fortunately, all the money I'm playing with now is theirs so it doesn’t hurt as bad but I'm still p@ssed.

P.S. I can't believe this place is on "the list."

I am sure they will straighten it out. It is a rare occurence to have a driver offered in a matchup not make the race. He did not wreck. He simple wasn't fast enough to qualify in the top 36. I have a substantial bet at PlayersOnly on the same matchup. I called to have it graded and they said they have to wait until the race is over. It is a NO ACTION bet!!

      I copied this from Sportsbetting.com:

      "NASCAR

There are no refunds for NASCAR driver match up betting, all of the drivers listed in the match up bet must start the race for your bet to have action."

If they still count your bet as a loser after the race on Saturday, then you have a major gripe.

Mark A, if what you say is a fact, they should be removed from the BW List. I hope Jeff checks out this situation.

rush - he crashed in practice and did not take a second-round qualifying run. In effect, he withdrew.

For the record, as of right now, they are still trying to take wagers on this prop! Is is that hard to take it down or are they trying to see how many people they can scam?

Is there any other place out there that keeps the money when there is no action????

This rule must run across all the Starnet books, Superbet is the same>

              "NASCAR
              - There are no refunds for NASCAR driver match up betting, all of the drivers listed in the match up bet must start the race for your bet to have action."

Reading this rule, bets on both sides of this matchup lose.

Okay it does say so on their site, but this an outrageous rule!!!!

And still they are offering odds on this matchup.

              "Busch---CarQuest Auto Parts 300 Matchups
              05/27/00 21
              Matt Kenseth -180
              Michael Waltrip +140"

We all gotta come down like a ton of bricks on this crap!!!

jeff will check this out but once again i must emphasize this one point.

PLEASE DO NOT HEADLINE problems like this. It does 2 things.
                1) treats all parties unfairly.
                2) LESSENS possibilities to correct the problem.

I myself agree that IF this is the policy, it should be looked at VERY closely. It appears ludicrous as it is stated.

Mr. Wiz (jeff) will take a closer look.

mark, I stand corrected. Waltrip did crash. I thought I saw a different 2nd round qualifying time for him than he had in the 1st round.

I talked to PlayersOnly again this morning and talked to someone else and was assured that it would be no action and the wager would be refunded back to my account AFTER the race was over.

                  This is from PlayersOnly rules:

                  "Motosports

In the event that the driver or team that a customer bets upon for the outright championship does not start the race, the bet is considered action (no refunds on the bet). Both drivers must start the race for matchup wagering for the bet to have action. The start of any motor race is defined as the signal to start the warm-up lap. The official winner at the conclusion of the race will be the winner for betting purposes"

I know this doesn't help you but it is an example of a book that appears to have a fair rule stated in their rules about a situation like this. It looks to me like the futures bets would not be refunded but matchup bets will be refunded. I still am not resting easy until I see that money back into my account.

After multiple E-mails, I was finally put in touch with someone named Terry as opposed to the aforementioned Robert. Terry, higher up the chain of command and aware of this thread as well, has reversed the earlier ruling and declared that I will get my original stake back on this no-action bet.

Terry also had this to say, “I do apologize that our customer service agent gave you the wrong information regarding a no-action wager.”

I wish to publicly thank Terry at Sportsbetting.com for the resolution to this situation.

You know what they say....the squeaky wheel...

The following is being posted on behalf of Sportsbetting.com

                        ---------------------------------------------

                        Dear Mark,

The final word is that since one of the drivers you bet on will not start,
your bet will NOT have action. All no-action bets mean you get your initial
bet back, but this may not happen until 24 hours after the finish of the
                        race.

                        ---------------------

Here are the a NASCAR rules posted on the site: http://www.sportsbetting.com/rules.html

                        NASCAR

There are no refunds for NASCAR driver match up betting, all of the drivers
listed in the match up bet must start the race for your bet to have action.

                        ---------------------

I do apologize that our customer service agent gave you the wrong
                        information regarding a no-action wager.

I want to make it clear that we have not ripped you or anyone else off now
or in the past. Your wager is still pending (we have not graded the wager,
nor have we taken your money and you can still see this wager in your
Pending Wagers) as per our policy that all bets will be graded within 24
hours of the end of the event.

In the future I would appreciate it if you would contact
"sos@sportsbetting.com" regarding concerns or discrepancies before you take
these issues to a public forum.

We do appreciate your business and we look forward to keeping you as a
                        customer.
