  • Rules on postponent of soccer games

the Cambuur discussion actually jogged my memory..

during or around the time of the betmaker/betzone changeover, I had put a bet on PSV Eindhoven (yes, Dutch soccer)
to win, but not sure if it was Betmaker or Betzone - probably betzone

this game they had scheduled at one date, and was played the next day, so bet was refunded, not won - rules say 3 days to claim something, anyway

although interesting betzone's rules say that if played in the 'same football week' bet is ok, which is reasonably sensible, as a game moved a day or so, and still played at the same ground, I would usually be happy to leave the bet on for......

so, if this bet was at betzone, they weren't following their own rules - and if it was at betmaker, they don't have any rules on the website about this situation that I can see?

however, quite possibly it was at betmaker, and don't see any postponement soccer policy on their website - and I can't check the transaction, as my account was quickly transferred to betzone from betmaker, and past betmaker history not accessible anymore, as can't log in there.....

    Ok,

Have looked at the betmaker rules, and they DO say that if a game is not played on the date, then all bets refunded, so that is worth noting for people betting there, check that games are played that you have bet on with them.

I do remember discussing it with them at the time now, and I was the one that was not aware of the rule, being used to other places and odd or movable soccer times.

        Nah, nowhere near that

Think it will be a long time before I ever bet that sort of money.......

Maybe in another life or two

I was just kidding. I was referring to your payment for the name betzone.

BTW, if you want to see a real joke, go to www.supernames.com - owned by Claude Levy of gamblingmagazine.com.

You won't believe the astronomical prices he's requesting for names I wouldn't pay 2 cents for.

This is a real sticky issue, because even a major league like Spain can have scheduling rearrangements on very short notice. Friday "often" brings news of Saturday games changed to Sunday, or vice-versa. Sometimes, for one reason or another, the Sunday TV game gets juggled on the Saturday.

As a punter, I like Rayo at home when they're kicking off at noon about 5% more than I like them when they kick off at home in late afternoon. Alternately, Valencia and Barcelona are much better at home after dark than at home in the day.

Yeah, indeed, soccer games more than anything else this happens to - well, perhaps tennis a little as well

What would be cool is email messages for people that have bets on - which can explain what happens in these cases - of course, could be lots of email, but I would certainly like that - keeping track of 50 different soccer league schedules is loads of fun

Biggest soccer goof was still with proline lottery in Ontario.

The games were supposed to go at 2 p.m. ET but there was a holiday in Italy which noone knew about. A guy happened to be at a bar watching a game with some other Italian soccer fans early in the early morning and the games ended by 11 a.m. Well proline didn't know the games were played and never took them down. The guy realized the mistake, called all his buddies who called their buddies etc. and the lottery corporation didn't catch on until 1 p.m. In the 90 minutes they left the games open they ended up losing over a million bucks - but they paid out.
