  • Life is a one sided coin toss

I remember reading the post by Reno regarding "Scalping mistakes" and how they generally lose. Well after reviewing the Brewers game last night (for the 200th time) I have come to several conclusions. Here they are.....

1/ If you stay open on a game accidently it will lose at a 80% clip.

2/ If you ever ever think you know more than Poker and decide to go against them. You will once again lose at a 90% clip.

3/ If you have a fantastic number on an injury play (remember when Jordan was out against the Hawks YA right) You again will lose.(cant provide a % here do to insufficient data).

4/If you make a "watch bet" on your birthday or any other personal occasion you WILL lose at a staggering 98.3%

5/ If you are at a restaurant with non gambling friends. Everytime you sneek to see the game on the bar television, the opposing time will ALWAYS have bases loaded with nobody out.

6/ If you press a play because you are up eight runs in the seventh in another game. You can fully expect that the opposition will set a club record with most runs scored in an inning. This happens just after you pressed your other bet which in turn you have a 2% shot of winning.

    Thats enough for now
Please feel free to add to this list

If you gamble big you will lose at an astounding 89.3%, if you gamble on the same game small relative to your bankroll, you will win 94.6%.

    Great post and SO true.

If your team is up by 3 in the ninth and you score it up as a winner...well you know the rest YOU LOSE. See Cubs-milw. game 10 days ago and many others this year.

If YOUR team has a considerable lead at halftime of a Monday Night Football game, so much so that you turn the tube off and hit the hay, you can be SURE that not only will the other team come back and cover the number, but at the same time, you will have also missed one of the best games EVER.....

            Boomer!!!!
I will test your theory out this afternoon on the Yankees. It was a small play for me and now I will make it a biggy.LOL I am also having about 40 people over this afternoon and evening so it would also classify as a family function. The astute capper should seize this info for a sure victory on the Indians .

Kelvin, and I thought it was just me. Right on all counts. Keep the tv off today(yeah, that'll happen!) or throw all your guests out before turning it on!....I'll never forget this one: Mother's day 1995, 20+ people and Mom in the room. CHI leads ORL 104-95 and Orl has possession with 16 seconds left. The game is sitting ON the number and ON the total. I have a 3 dime middle on the side at -8 and +10 and a 4 dime middle on the total at 197 and 199.5! The Magic stand around for 10 seconds before chucking a 3 point air ball. Jordan ends up with the ball and is just holding it near the ORL foul line with 5 seconds left when some a%^hole on ORL decides to dart halfway across the court to grab him! And we all know why. Needless to say, I unleashed a barrage of MF's that is probably un paralleled to this day! And now I always make sure to visit Mom on this special day AFTER all NBA has gone final!

Boxing is the worst sport for bad ("fixed") beats. You watch a fight like the first Holyfield/Lewis fight or the Pernell Whitaker/Julio Chavez fight, and because a Don King or some other criminal has bribed the judges, your money goes down the drain.

What actually ended up changing the way boxing is booked are the fixes. King cronies nearly cleaned out Caliente in Mexico by betting huge amounts on draws on a couple of fights. If you're going to fix a fight, you make sure it ends up a draw, because that is obviously where the big payoff is. Caliente got killed on the fights because they had to refund all bets except for the draws, where they ended up paying King's boys mega-bucks.
Now, Caliente many offshore books will no longer refund your money if a fight ends in a draw. They are afraid of fixes.

This is for the married ones. In general:

If you're up big (at least five figures) with one of your outs by Friday and you promised your old lady that mortgage, bills, car payments will be settled by Monday then what happens, by Sunday all of your deposits were gone.

This is documented by thousands of American gamblers. If every handicapper that advertises on my scorephone is on the same side of any game in any sport bet your lungs on the other side. It has never failed in honest to God 30 to 40 times. It is 100% automatic. I wish I could sell those plays, I'd be a billionaire already.

Unfortunately, the law of averages doesn't exist in my personal universe. In a perfect universe there is a law of averages; but my universe is obviously imperfect. Today I went down to the Hilton, and my balance was off. Turns out I had mistakenly bet Houston-115 instead of Cincinnati -115 (of course, I had taken the losing side, the Cubs, earlier.)The bottom line: 2 dimes down the tubes, since I naturally took Montreal +115 to wash out the Houston bet. Fast Eddie of Premiere made a mistake when he only called me old and slow: he forgot to add STUPID!

The only good thing was that I found out about it before the Houston game went. Otherwise, because Montreal is up 6-1, I'd have gotten double-burned.
