    bsky2,
My buddy does not have a telephone line on his receiver.
All I know is that the device that he puts on receivers works really well.
I still would like to know why hoopsguy is inquiring about direcTV for Vancouver.

The NFL sunday Ticket package will be on DTV and only DTV (in terms of small dish's) for a few more years, they have an exclusive contract. So if you live in the US, and have a small dish, the only way you will see NFL sunday ticket is with DirecTV.

I can't speak for Vancouver but I'm sure it's similar to Toronto or anywhere in Canada.

Legally the answer is no. The CRTC (Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission) has stated that the only legal satellite dishes in Canada are Star Choice and Bell Canada Expressvu. All U.S. satellite dishes are illegal. And with those 2 you can't get ESPN or many of the other stations. But they do have a lot of U.S. stations but so does Rogers or Shaw Cable. To be exact here is a sample of the virtually free stations available.

        ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, FOX.

Also for a small fee you get the following U.S. stations.

TBS, TNN, BET, A&E, CMT, CNN, CNN Headline News, DISCOVERY, Golf Channel, KTLA, LIFE, WSBK, WGN, WPIX
