I'm not 100% sure but I think Carib uses Crystal Systems and Skybook uses the same system that Intheknow is using. Systems cost aprox $1500 per year per terminal. Fairly expensive. No?
I love SOS's system. Especially the refresh button, which contrary to an earlier stated opinion, I find refreshes almost instantaneously when I hit it. It's great being able to see visually in a couple of seconds ALL the line changes at the book. It may not have the bells and whistles and graphics of browser based ones but all I want to do is make my bet, not be captivated by JAVA (which can and does run slow), or other senseless add ons.
The SOS system is pretty good, but I've yet to figure out how it can be used on a MACINTOSH based system. I believe you have to have Windows to run this program, which is really a shame for those of us who don't slavishly conform to Bill Gates and the market, and still have the audacity to own a MAC!!!
But as someone who has tried most of the online systems, I like SOS the best
Thanks for all the input guys, everyone who posted shows the spirit that is the essence of this forum. BM's and players interacting.
I did ask, and was told that the on-line system is web-based and players do not have to download software now to use it. Could be an updated version as opposed to SOS's current, but that's what they're touting now.
Intheknow,
The system you want is called softech. That is the best software out there. All the books in Costa Rica are using it for years now and all the bugs have been worked out. Just make shure you get a powerful server!
Big Vegas
itn, now that is really good news if true. It means that all these books currently using the download-only-Windows-only software could switch to a browser-based one, I think.

THE DEVIL
DEVIL,
My posting career is officially over but here is my opinion for what it's worth regarding software.
QNX was the best, the problem being you were at R****'s mercy for support.
He was a tough man to get a hold of in an emergency.
It is rumored E-sports and Soft-Tec have mergered they get my vote for the best internet and phone side system available on a commercaial basis to the public.
From friends of mine in the computer business the system that Spiro from OLYMPIC privately developed is hands down the best.
You need only to refer the posters here about how easy it to navigate and how reliable it is at crunch time.

Have never seen Olympics software in person but I'm familar with all the commercial applications. Crystal Systems and Soft-Tec did merge as my sources have told me, with a major re-write in the works. QNX was the best for a long time, with little down time but it became cumbersome and as Reality said R**** was a hard man to find when there were problems. Many books still use QNX while others have systems that only grade the work. Maybe I'll give Olympic a call, if their software is as good as everyone says, maybe I can work a deal and market the software.

Reality, you aint going nowhere. You have been threating this is your last post for your last 20 posts. The readers like what you have to say so appease them.
I think you're stuck down there on some balmy tropical island bored stiff between consultations, and you're using this forum to keep yourself in touch with people to ward off lonliness. In fact your probably so bored being there that you intentionally include people's quotes in your responses, so you can take the extra time to proof-read their old quotes along with your new post.
I bet you can't wait for the day you get the hell away from that paradise and are flying home to be with your your wife and kids in the good old U. S. of A..
