  • A little help please

Our book is thinking of using the same on-line sportsbook software that SOS uses. Can any SOS players tell me the plus' and minus' of this system. Thanks

    Plus

Account information - detail and access.
Ability to bet multiple games at once without refreshing the lines screen.

    Minus

    Not browser based.
    Slow to log on.
    Slow line refresh.

Take a look at Crystal Systems software. It's by far the best out there.

        thanks Devil,
but this software is already intergrated with the system we use for telephone wagering and as such you could play on-line or telephone and we wouldn't have to train on a new system

SOS's setup isn't pretty, but it works great once you get it loaded up.

I like it because it lets you set up any kind of play you want. For example, at SOS tonight, you could play a two team parlay on, say, baskets and baseball and you could buy points on the basketball game and list or delist pitchers on the baseball game, all in one play.

Places like Carib or WSE or, which are both great in their own way are limited by their software. At either you could buy points on the baskets, but you couldn't parlay that with anything because it's too complicated for their systems.

SOS orginally had Carib's software as I recall and although visually it's far superior, SOS's is much more versatile.

If you have to opportunity to go online easily with this software, perhaps it is a good decision. But it wouldn't be my choice otherwise.

You'd be surprised what a hassle it is to download software, download another version when it changes, worry about compatibiilty with various operating systems, etc, etc. A browser-based system is much easier for the player.

With java, flash, and other extensions to the basic html, one can do just about anything.

              In the Know,
I know the system that you are currently using so i beleive that you probably own it outright as opposed to leasing it ? If that is not the case it may be more advantageous to shop for a new system.
I'm sure the thought of having to train your people on a new system is not that appealing but it is actually alot easier than you may think.
Most of the new systems are so intuitive that a clerk or manager with experience can learn within a few hours.
A browser based system is just a far superior product for customer ease and reliabity than a downloadable..Most of the software company's can customize a package to suit your particular needs and give you the flexibility to set up your own paramaters as far as parlay and teaser payouts..
If you can get out of the system your currently using without it causing a financial burden it might be worth your time to investigate a new system.
I am not a software salesman just someone who has researched many differnt options over the past few years..If you need more help you can call me 800.213.3370 just ask for Nickles

would you mind saying which system you are currently using. From Nickles response sounds like your using computer R*****.

your right, there are many systems with more bells and whistles, but for speed of order taking and never crashing during high volume on Sunday. It's still one of the best. We had a accounting system designed to get us more info out of the system a few years ago. It has been a workhorse and we have adopted the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude.

I'm not a salesman for the company or anything like that. In the same business as you. If you havn't seen the system working and your in Curacao or Costa Rica take the time to visit someone that is using it. Grades in seconds. Clerks that use the other one will learn in 2 hours. Handles many more wager types, better accounting and also very reliable with better tech support. This Devil doesn't lie.

Is this the same software as Skybook & Jazz Sports? The big problem with that system is the 10 minute timeout. The system is versatile but for strait bets I prefer the browser based systems.

shifty, yes its the same system, and it is definitely not cutting edge, its clunky a system hog and far inferior to even mediocre web based software. This begs the question what is the going rate for for this software, i would be interested in knowing exactly how much these sportsbooks are paying for software that is: a) used by their competitors, and b) isn't altogether that good.

I love the system at Carib. It is incredibly easy to view all bets available and you can place a bet real quick.
