I keep hearing about all these books that have terrible customer service and often don't pay. I personally only use Intertops & Olympic, never a problem with a payout and great customer service. I just don't understand why anyone would send there hard earned money to a start up book & take the chance of not getting paid. I'm only a nickle or less player but I have only great things to say about these two books. I know others prefer more than two outs but I like knowing I can get paid anytime I want.

I noticed that Intertops is on the Island Express feed. This could save a lot of time in checking their lines. But the problem is, they won't take wagers over the phone. So you have to use the online software anyway.
I'd like to see them offer wagering over the phone. Perhaps they could use a higher minimum to keep the costs and volume down.

I think phone operators are the least cost-effective way of running a business. The internet is the way to go, keeping company overheads down and offering customers a competitive service.
Recent advances in mobile phone technology will allow you to place a bet from almost anywhere on the planet, with WAP technology bringing the internet straight to your mobile phone.
I understand the companies that choose not to accept phone wagers, as employing clerks right now is a bad decision in the long run. I mean you can't just hire people today, knowing that they'll be redundant in 2-3 years time...
What really bugs me are sportsbooks which accept wagers over the phone, but which don't take bets through the internet...

Usually Olympic is one of the best, but I had to call tonight and correct FIVE errors in Arena football. The had the wrong team favored in 4 of them, and one game going tonight when it goes tomorrow. I guess I can see one or two errors, but FIVE on a 6 game card?
Spent a while on the phone going over and over things repeatedly with a woman who didn't exactly major in English, while she yelled into the phone and my poor left earover and over to some guy. At least she yelled out a thanks to me as she hung up the phone. I didn't even bet one of them, even though I suspect no one would have noticed these Arena games.

Meanwhile, I took 25 seconds to send Intertops an email that they had an AFL game going tonight instead of tomorrow, and they gave me a $25 bonus.
It may sound like I am begging for something from Olympic, which I am really not, but 25 seconds to move a game to tomorrow for $25, compared to 5-10 aggrevating minutes on the phone fixing numbers which I would kill for and probably could have easily gotten away with. I don't mean to be putting Olympic down, just listing the facts.
Damn I am too nice of a guyIf any books out there are looking for an honest guy to set Arena lines, just call my agent! I think it may be bedtime now

Thanx for the correction on Arena Jason. My service from Vegas Faxed me the sheet and had the Line in the wrong spot. Call me up and I'll reward you for your help on correcting the lines without trying to take advantage.
Again Thanx very much!

Sorry, was out of town for the holiday weekend. Like I said, I wasn't really looking for anything, just relaying stories. I cetainly didn't mean to make any enemies. Just keep posting those Arena lines and TOTALS, and that will be the only reward I need. Maybe the bonus can be posting them a day earlier

Question for the Greek- Spiro I am curious why you wait to get your lines from what Vegas puts up. I believe you guys wait on the Season win totals in all the sports and check what Vegas puts up before you guys do, and also in Arena football getting your lines form a vegas service then just putting them up carte blanche? The main reason I think you are making a mistake is that the Vegas numbers are usually good for a couple dollars you might be able to get a dime on a season win but only in 1 or 2 spots, whereas you take a big hit and let people bet whatever they want pretty much. I dont understand why someone who takes 5-10 times or more as much in a single punch would want the little guy making numbers for him then just copy them, I would think it would be the other way around.

Your right BBUSTER because of the small limits Vegas has, you can't rely on their numbers to take big hits, especialy on props, total season wins and other such events. I have to start somewhere though, and in some instances Vegas is the only place where I can get a #. As far as me making up #s, in some cases I'm okay but for the most part I'm not that good.
I guess the other option is to hire an oddsmaker. And thats something I'm considering.

Spiro- Would you mind commenting on the NCAA Championship game? Why did you guys open the total 12 1/2 points different then the Dust(135,147 1/2) I know you guys have some opinions on baskets, but this was more than a difference in opinion. Thanks for any insight into what I found a very weird situation.

Spiro- I am curious what an " oddsmaker " means to you? Is it someone who is excellent at math, statisics and probability. Someone who can tell you what each 1/2 run or point is worth in exact cents? Or someone who has a winning opinion betting, so his numbers might be sharper and more profitable than the numbers used by the masses?
