Boomer- Thanks for the lesson in what can
happpen to create a tough and unwanted
situation --in spite of no weasly intent.
I can see myself doing the same thing.
Thanks to your post if it happens to me I will verify the figure.
Maintaining one's own honor and doing "the right thing" is a personal thing. You obviously don't need the support of this crowd to decide what that is for you.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for
anyone who has the strength to call his/her
own shots without the need for public support. The Karma be with you!

I wish you would name the place Boomer, because it sounds like you're being scammed and I'd like to avoid the place.

Who's to say buddy isn't salting everybody's account with "accounting errors" and then stiffing winners and demanding payment from losers.

Sounds to me like they picked up on what happened pretty quickly...I'd say they were waiting in the weeds for you.

Because you're a scalper/middler I know you didn't actually "lose" the money and so does buddy. But your plays didn't cost him a penny and it's an out and out shake down for him to try and get a dime out of you.

You also know the guilty party is following this thread and hasn't surfaced to defend himself. If you ask me, it casts a shadow over all the Costa Rican books until this guy is outed and explains himself.

W.C said he'd rather be in Philadelphia. Don't you mean P.T. Barnum.

You know, a con man good enough to score $4600 and leave the mark thinking he did the honorable thing by paying ...

Well maybe you have to reward excellence ... this guy is good ...

                Hey Boomer,

Do you really think there is a doubt you would have gotten paid if you won? Hey have you ever made a mistake your-self?

                Best of luck,

                Roberto

I think you guys should all read Bob's post again. There is a really good chance that Bob is correct in his opinion. If I knew who the book was I might be able to give an opinion. Also, when did he call you? How soon after the games were a final? How did he even know that they posted the money incorrectly? None of this sounds good to me. You even seem skeptical, Boomer.

Boomer - I was kind of surprised from your last response. I find it "snotty". First of all, why do you have to post it if you didn't want any opinion nor at least advices. Second, why don't you reveal the name of the shop and finish this whole thing. Third, obviously everyone was just "showing concern" about you and everyone is in your side. I have a little advice for you pal and I know you will not listen anyway. Do whatever you think is right for you, that is your money. Have a nice day!!!

Briefly, as I'm really busy right now with baseball.

At the time I made the bets there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that I would get paid if I won because I never questioned that the money in the account was valid.

It was only after reading so many posts AFTERWARDS that made me wonder if indeed had things gone the other way, would he have been in the right to negate my winnings. I then thought about the character he had exhibited in the past in my extensive dealings with him and it was a no-brainer. The man gets paid.

As a closing note, I will say that after reading the posts of Bettorsworld here, he did cut me a very very fair compromise which was not necessary, but very much appreciated and accepted.

I consider the matter closed and I thank everyone for their honest opinions.

I need you guys opinions on this. What if you had a legit say $100 in you wagering account but there was and extra $100 posted in there making the account $200. Then you bet a game for $200 and lose. Since you didn't have $200 in your account does this a "no action" bet? Or would you think $100 of it would count? and visa versa... if you win what should happen?

                          Boomer,
I too believe that you would have been paid if you had won. I can attest to the importance of personal relationships between players and their books. My questions were from a customer service view. If you did not have this personal relationship with this guy and were a new client, would he have called and requested payment? If not, are you to be penalized because or your past history with this book? The classiest thing for the book to do is to alert you to the mistake and write off the "electronic win" for the book.

                          Good Luck

Boomer...Their are a few rules that vaguely
cover disputes like this. Some rules are solid like LP's, innings, OT's, PPD's etc. But your case is in the vague class. Just do what feels right. You will know. Like J C. Watts said "character is doing the right thing when no one is looking". Kinda corny but it still works...Scotty

FWIW----A few years back betting a downtown casino via phone. A rookie clerk took my action well exceeding my available post up unknowingly to both of us. The next day my figure was way too low. As you can gather, I was bitching like hell. But you know what?, the SB Dir. did the fairest thing possible. Unable to reach me, he gave me all my plays in chronological order that I gave the clerk and when I ran out of cash the action stopped.
