  • Aces Gold and credit cards

When someone pointed out some good Nascar odds, went to deposit a small amount by credit card, kept getting errors - anyone else have this problem?

Did do varying amounts to check that it was over the sometimes minimum cash advance limit, so anyone else had this problem, never really come across that before, unless their software can't handle cards from everywhere?

Did email, and they said call us - which it is not really worth paying for for an amount like that........

I've found online credit card deposits to be very finicky. The best setups are those that pre-register your card - then just authorize an amount against that card. If you enter all the info along with the deposit, ANY change at all compared to your billing info can kick it out. RD vs. Road, omitting SW, five vs. nine-digit zip, etc. etc.

This is not just for the book you stated. But for all.

I noticed their server doesn't seem to be a secure one as far as cc deposits go. Can any one tech minded say if this is a problem?

I only have half a mind, but what's there is tech-oriented. If there is no secure connection when you are submitting your credit card info online, there there definitely is more security risk.

The biggest frustration I have with them is their $500 max limit on any given card. If you reach that limit and want more, you have to use another card. When I finally called them to ask if I could up the limit on what I could put on a single card, they emailed me a form to complete, which has to be faxed back to them along with a copy of my credit card and driver's license.

Now, I know they say they are concerned about security (if that's really the case, they should address Fred's concern about sight security), but to require me to get out of my chair, run down to the local copy shop, and spend half the afternoon authenticating my existence, all for the privelege of making a dime deposit, this is a bit much for me.

Sorry folks, but if I have to reach any farther than my back pocket in order to use a credit card online, than that really defeats the purpose of this method of deposit. As long as I have to leave the house to satisfy these requirements, I may as well just post up at Western Union.

Bette, I know what you mean. At most places the credit card is still the best way to make a small deposit.

The reason for the limits, and additional paperwork necessary to extend those limits, is because of their risk. The charges to the card can be reversed by the depositor, claiming fraud. But most books have a limit of $1000 or more deposit and roughly $3000 per month. AcesGold should look into raising their limits.

I like Olympic's setup. Limit is $3000/month but you can deposit via credit card the whole $3000 at one time if you want to.
