  • Intertops $23 Farewell

As you all may recall I was booted from Intertops recently for winning too much
money (I presume). Anyway, today I got a cheque for the balance of my account...NINE days after being escorted from the premesis.

The fact the money took so long was bad enough....but worse still was the fact that the amount was $881 short. At the time of my removal I had an active wager which was a winner and although it settled the day after my eviction and well before my cheque was sent, somehow they forgot about it.

I contacted Itops who confirmed they still had my money and said they would send it along - minus $23 for shipping since the amount was below their $1,000 limit for free delivery.

I would complain and threaten to take my business elsewhere for having to pay for their mistake, but.......

If the bet result was final before they sent the cheque, then the amount should have been included with the first cheque. It's bad enough that you have to remind them that you won your wager. They should also pay the price for the second cheque to be sent out, since it was their bookkeeping error that left out the final wager winnings from the cheque. Shoddy business practices from Intertops. Not the way to win customers.

    And then there's the booting...

I'd like to see Intertops respond to this here in the forum, but I'm not holding my breath, as they didn't respond in the other thread (losers only please!). In fact I can't remember ever seeing a response from Intertops in this forum. Kind of arrogant.

It is incredible how niggardly and small-minded this sportsbook is. The owner has made mega-millions and they still never stop their low-class, chintzy ways. Do they still have crummy, outdated software, or did the owner somehow manage to part with an infinitesmal fraction of his loot to update their product?

Reno, the problem is that Intertops thinks that the reason for their success is their chintzy ways.

        They are truly in denial.

that being said they are also truly rolling in the dough.

          Reno,
Niggardly? What the hell does that mean?
I hope not what it sounds like.

Niggardly is a word of ancient Scandinavian extraction, commonly used to describe dirty, underhanded tactics. Sometimes used is soccer commentary along with the related "niggling", which is more "petty and pointless".

The transparency of this situation makes me wonder if "niggling" was the word Reno sought, but I can't put words in Reno's mouth.

Amah Deborah can, but that's already been discussed...

I'll tell you that from what I heard here I would never post with the likes of Intertops, Bowmans, or that Irish outfit something Bets. They just want a bunch of squares who are guaranteed to lose. Once they find out the bettor is something different then you're gone. I think that Intertops owes Bob $23 and an apology. I sentence Intertops to 10 days in the clink. They are ducking their obligations as an outlet.

This is not meant to defend Intertops but you guys need to look at bookmaking as a business. Just like casinos kick out card-counters, square bookmakers kick out sharp players.

As bettors, we do not have an inalienable right to bet with whomever has a bookmaking operation. Vegas doesn't want sharp action and neither does Intertops, Nasa, etc.

If you don't want to get booted either post up or find an agent with Caribi, WWTS, Premiere, Belize, Sportsmkt etc. They want sharp action, the others don't.

If certain players are squeezing profits from the square joints, they just look at the bottom line and say "if we didn't have account numbers 1001, 1258, etc. we would have made $X amount more. Since we can't earn with these accounts lets get rid of them".

                      Its just a business decision.

I understand, bsky, that this is a business and that everybody who sets up offshore expects to make money after sizeable expenses. Yet, this is gambling and the BMs, who set ALL the rules, has to gamble too unless he can do the impossible and completely balance the books on every game. There are going to be winners in this game and, like Reno and Vegas, the BMs should be happy to post the pixs of winners like Bob, Reno, and Boomer on their walls. I think that BMs are entitled to bounce a player who is winning in six figures for a couple of months or who regularly wins five figures montly. On the other hand, consistent winners of a smaller magnitude should be welcome as players. Maybe they can even sell their picks on Johnny's scorephone. The BMs still have the opportunity to set limits and move lines. Unless the "winning" is extraordinary, I would look at the action as part of the handle, like a race track does, and move on if the operation is generally profitable. BMs who don't are being greedy. Hell, I remember last year about one BM complaining in this forum about players who postup, win big, and then pull their money out without him getting a chance to win it back. I think that Intertops and Bowmans are cheesy operations. Imagine, Bowmans calling Bob up at 2 a.m. about cancelling a prop that it had posted. I hope, for Bowman's sake, that it had at least five figures riding on Bob's bet. Perhaps Bowman's should find a new line of work like the banking industry, which is a sure winnner unless an idiot like Jeb Bush is running it.

It's pretty funny that you refer to Jeb Bush as an "idiot" in light of the fact that the Bush brother you are attempting to refer to was Neal Bush, who was involved in the Savings & Loans failure. It was not Jeb Bush, who is the Governor of Florida and had nothing to do with the banking problems that you are talking about.

You'r right. There's too many dimwitted Bush's to keep track of. What's Neal doing now? I suppose he'll run for governor of some god forsaken state like Oklahoma.

bsky2-Do you know what happened to the "sharp" players in college baskets this year? I heard that they got crushed. Ask the guy at the Regent in Las Vegas, he's going to be getting a nice bonus this year because of it.
Vegas does want sharp action to a certain extent - If it loses. And it will lose. But if they don't take it then how will they ever know? What a bunch of morons. Looks like I might have to set up some phone lines in Costa Rica...
