  • BET ON LINE FROM NEVADA???

I'm 3 months new to the internet and 15 years old to sports wagering. I got in a couple of small contests and won 2 off shore accounts, neither of which is listed below. I live in Vegas but elect to do most of my wagering from home. I have had a phone account at the Mirage for 3 years. The books on the internet offer a wider array of betting options then I have now, and I would like to open an account or two. But at one of the books I have won an opening account, I read in the rules "not legal from Minn. Missouri, or Nevada."

So, I have a few questions for you very knowledgeable gentlemen, and I thank you for any answers or feedback.

    (1) If I go ahead and open an account, will they just take the deposit and if I win refuse to pay because of living here?

(2)I know this state has some internet gambling laws, but are they inforced? Or can they even be enforced?

(3)Do different offshore places enforce this and some do not? (The one place I won an account makes no mention of this rule)

Again, thanks for helping out a veteran of the wars that's trying to catch up with the times.

Enforcement on your end is very difficult. Next to impossible.

As far as the books, 9 out of 10 could care less if you're from Mars or Nevada.

With the one you mention, the only thing you can do is ask them point blank the question you have asked here.

It's basically a law that isn't enforced. Thousands of Nevadans play with on-line offshore books, and I've only heard of one having problems with the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

The only offshore books that seem to give a hoot if you live in Nevada are some in Australia, like Canbet.

Reno, do you know exactly what happened to the player in Nevada who had a problem with the NGCB? Was it the American Wagering case/setup?

Segundo, I can't remember the guy's name. He is a big-time bettor and probably also had beards in the Vegas books. Somebody complained about him to the NGCB. They didn't prosecute him, but told him to get out of town. He then left Nevada.

Could someone address the internet gaming issue in Nevada? Is it illegal to make a sportswager over the internet there? How about with a telephone call. Does it apply to residents of Nevada only?
