  • Logging in Again and Again

This is the worst! I'm sure there must be some security reason somewhere for this, but logging onto an online wagering system every 15 minutes is pure hogwash. There's no good reason that I shouldn't be able to log in and stay there for an hour or two.

Heck, many people let the computer store their user names and passwords anyway. So even when they log in again, they just go through the screen and press enter. But it is a waste of time, energy, concentration, and bandwidth.

The worst offenders I've seen are Abetz, SIA, and WilliamHill.

There's got to be a "bettor" way.

Everyone is scared they will get hacked into.
Can't blamne the books, if someone could get into Yahoo, Amazon etc., they sure as hell could get into sportsbooks.

I agree it is bothersome but until someone invents hack-proof software we must live with it.

I don't believe the difference between 15 minutes and 60 minutes really warrants the aggravation to the player.

If the site is smart, it can also tell if your IP address is the same as the one that logged in a few minutes earlier. And cookies can be used to further determine that the computer is the same one that logged in earlier.

There is another acceptable approach - don't require logging in until a wager is placed. Books that take this approach include WSEX, GrandPrix, etc.

        It could be worse.

Skybook and Jazz Sports time out after 10 minutes!

OK, maybe I'm not the computer expert. Maybe someone can come on here and tell me I'm wrong, that there is really a good reason for this hassle. Then I'd tell them to pass along their recommendation to the other books that let me log on and stay on for hours without re-entering the info.

Another way that books can save the players this hassle is the approach that Carib and other take - an automatic refresh. This way, there is activity automatically until I close the browser or change sites.

Interwetten is like this too - a big pain - timeouts are a good idea in case of people making mistakes and staying logged in, but not at that short a time....

sounds like someone has left a default setting on the servers there
