  • Lack of variety

I have been reading this forum for several months now and have never seen this topic discussed. So I think it is worth to try.

I will start with an example.

On Tuesday and Wednesday there are the last matches of the 2nd stage of the UEFA Champions League. I believe it is more than natural for sports books to offer such betting option:

Will Team X qualify to the quarter finals? Yes/No

Unfortunately, (I would like to say surprisingly, but it is not true) I don't know any book which offers such a bet.

It is just one example of how poor the variety of betting options is. I don't think it is necessary to give other examples.

On the other hand we can see a lot of absolutely senseless propositions. Such as "Will Agassi and Davenport win Grand Slam 200?" or odds to win 2000 Wimbledon while it is impossible to place a bet on 2000 French Open which starts earlier. Amazingly several books simultaneously offer such stupid bets (Intertops and Olympic in previous examples).

Maybe I am the only one who is not satisfied with current situation. I would like to hear your opinions.

Just because you haven't found it doesn't mean nobody will offer it.

Interwetten, for example, is one of the books out there that will offer the promotion bet that you have mentioned regularly (not sure about this week though, cause I haven't checked with them for a while).

Of course, if you are looking for an offshore to have such bet, you won't find anyone out there.

Its like looking for an Euro book to offer a 1st quater line for a NBA game. It doesn't make sense at all.

As for the tennis bet, if you would undestand how and why (the source of the lines) they hang out those tennis line, it would not be a surprise at all.

Although it still doesn't make sense though...

      Hi, AYCE!

You seem to be a little bit angry and I don't see any reason. I still appreciate your comments though.

The fact I haven't found obviously doesn't mean nobody will offer. It just means that almost nobody among the leading books is accepting such bets right now.

I check Interwetten's line daily. I believe they are the best online book that I know in terms of variety. They do offer promotion bets today, they didn't yesterday when I was writing the initial message.

But still Interwetten is the only one among European and Australian books I know that offers such bet. While it is possible to place a bet on Peruvian Championship at some of these books.

On offshore books. I didn't mean them in the example with promotion bets. But I don't think they offer enough variety either.

The first example I can think of is can I bet weather team X qualify to the final four yes/no? Do you believe it is more exotic bet than 1st quarter total of some particular game.

I can come up with a lot of other examples of NATURAL bets.

The question is are you satisfied with present variety of betting option or you are not?

        Angry? Not at all.

Sorry if you got offended cause I always like to put things straight.

First of all, maybe you are not following too closely about the America sports market, there are many books out there DID offer props for the teams to reach final 4.

Thats just the same prop for them to win the regions, or better yet, you can even trade it in WSEX (4-plays).

There are also tons of props provided by those offshores everyday that some of them you may not even think of, take a look at some of the superbowl props and you will know what I mean.

But thats ONLY for America sports. Again, if you are asking them to have smoething up for international sports, sorry, you are looking at the wrong guy.

Thats the same reason for WH didn't even have any college totals up.

Because their markets are totally different.

As for why so many Euro books didn't want to offer them, as being a BM before, I think you should know better than me.

When most of your customers can be easily satified with those high vig, rip off 3-way lines or those sucker future lines, why try anything with higher risk and in a 2-way line (makes you look bad also)?

Thats why they hang out those Peruvian Championship line but not even a total, isn't it?

Although Interwetten's lines sucks, but I need to give some props to their BM there, at least they are willing to try something new.

Btw, if you are so eager looking for more options, have you took a look at tipsports or bet-ex yet?

I agree with everything you said in the last message.

You are right. I am bad in American Sports. Final Four was a bad example. Among offshore books I just check Olympic and Intertops from time to time mainly looking for tennis. Btw, sometimes Olympic has very strange tennis lines.

I have the same idea about why most of the books prefer to restrict themselves to regular 3-way lines. But it is not so clear for me that they are right in purely business sense.

From my experience in Ukraine promotion bets were for far the most popular bets. Hence even with less juice we could win much more money than with 3-way lines. Actually we lost often. But this is probably a different issue.

          On Tipsport and Bet-Ex.

Of course I know Tipsport. To be honest we used their tennis lines to create our own ones all the time. They accept bets even on Challengers, for example. But the bad thing is most of their propositions must be bet in trebles and i think there is some tax.

As far as I know, sports betting is extremely popular in Czech Republic and Slovakia. They accept bets on hundreds of tournaments and Championships. But there is not so much variety in the sense I mean. You can not even bet on totals or place a bet on spread in basketball.

Maybe it will be interesting for you to take a look at Slovakian book www.terno.sk. The line is pretty much the same as that of Tipsport.

About Bet-Ex. I know this book or maybe book is not the right word. There is real variety there. But what is sad the odds are very rarely better than those of sports books. I guess it is because people check sports books lines and want to accept bets on the same conditions.
