  • TO BE OR NOT TO BE

The decision to widen the baseball line is a tough call and places each of us in a no-win situation. Our first priority is our longtime, loyal members. It seems senseless to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars building a solid, loyal customer base, only to alienate them with a blanket change to what is now coined “Industry Standards”. An office dealing with credit players can at least show some justification for the change as they do extend this form of courtesy. We, however, deal with long-time members who, over the years, have entrusted us with millions of their dollars. We must show them the same respect. Therefore, they will not be affected by this change in policy. Our next consideration must go to all the other Good Books in this industry. WWTS will not use the 10-cent line as a marketing tool. All new inquiries or sign-ups will be quoted the 20-cent line. We feel this will stop the exodus of players from other books looking to us for bargains only. The Poker Players, Koshers, Money Movers and their Beards will be dealt a 20-cent line. Don’t feel sorry for them because somehow they’ll come up with a way to find value. They did it with Totals, didn’t they? This is why they’re called “Wise Guys”. If they do take a summer off, they’ll be back for football, as they need every out that pays. So as you can see, you never lose them. We hope that we’ve taken care of our customers and yet not undercut our fellow bookmakers. We realize some toes will be stepped on and that this solution is not perfect, but whoever said it was a perfect world!

    Thanks,
    Management

First of all I would like to applaud WWTS for having to conviction to do what they think is right and to not buckle under after extreme pressure was applied by others.

In case some did not get the jist of what was said, it is this. If you are not part of a syndicate or money mover and you have an existing account at WWTS, then you will be continued to be dealt a 10 cent line.

If you are a new client, they will not use their lofty position as a feed book to entice new players to try them solely on the basis of that 10 cent line.

As a previous and long-term client, I thank you and admire you for what must have been an agonizing decision on your part. Loyalty is a two-way street and you will always have mine.

The way I read this - If I am an existing
customer I will be dealt a dime line as before. Please confirm.

I play online -- will my pricing be automatic
      without a phone call?

All existing customers will be dealt the same dime line as before, nothing changes, and yes for our active online customers the dime pricing remains the same and will be automatic. There will be no need for you to call in to inquire or confirm this upon placing bets.

        Sincerely,
        WWTS

          WWTS,

What is your definition of "existing customer"? Many of us have played at WWTS over the past year or two but may not not have reloaded and been active for a few months. Many of your clients may only play certain sports or times of the year. Many players simply lose their bankroll. Do they count as "existing customers"?

An innovative approach - dealing a dime line to current customers only - I will certainly keep my account with WWTS now!

I might suggest to WWTS that, if they did lose last year in baseball, to lower their limits - I do not want to see WWTS lose money, but on the other hand I want that dime line! (I have never had a losing season in basketball or football - but have never had a winning baseball season even with a dime line - but gotta have that summer action!)

Lower limits (say 2 dimes), and recognition of the syndicate players, will satisfy all WWTS customers except those wise guys that beat them up last year in baseball.

As Jeff said, "You can't please everyone." But if I was a book and could satisfy all my customers except the syndicate players (who beat me generally anyway), and I could still show a profit on baseball, I'd say I did pretty darn well!

Cashman has a very valid question. What constitutes an existing "loyal" player??

If player played at WWTS a year ago, hasn't played there this past year, but was considering coming back, will he/she get 10 or 20?

Any person who has ever had a WWTS Pin or Account is considered as an
“Active Member”, regardless of them not having wagered for months at a time.

Another question.......what numbers will be posted on the live odds feeds? What numbers will be posted on the website?

Will the software online, be setup to deal an existing player a dime and a new account a 20 cent line?

For those guys who kicked Betmaker's ass, isn't this a great example that WWTS will be dealing 2 different lines to their customers?

This is much worse than Betmaker (different vig), isn't it?

                    MLS,

why would you like to stay with them but with a different satndard in the Betmaker case?

For the thousandth time Ayce, it is matter of notice.

If Betmaker informs players that they deal different lines depending on your betting style then I have no problem with that - an individual can then make an informed honest decision where to play.

(BTW, I do not believe betmaker deals different lines anymore.)

This matter has been beat to death - please drop it - if you do not understand that "notice" was the real issue in Betmaker's case then go abck and reread the hundred posts or so on the matter ...

The numbers that will be posted on the live odds feed will be a 20- cent line.
When your online account is accessed the 20- cent or 10- cent line will be issued based on your pin (old 10-cent line or new 20- cent line).

                        Sincerely,
                        WWTS

why wouldn't you want to use the 10 cent line as a marketing tool. the more volume the better, are you afraid the books that go to a 20 cent line are going to be mad at you.
**** the 20 cents books. each man for himself.

I'm a little confused about something. Every place I've ever played has a dime line on baseball sides up to about -160. In fact 13 years ago when I was in Vegas every sportsbook had a dime line. Today every sportsbook - everywhere including Vegas still has a dime line. How in the world is offering the standard line bad marketing?

I can just see the Mirage in Vegas putting up a rule

"To all Mirage casino bettors. Due to the fact that we are losing money on blackjack we are implementing the following new rule. If you are a guest at the hotel or have been a guest at the hotel in the past year we will pay you 3-2 odds on a blackjack. If you are just walking in, however, and are staying somewhere else then you will only get even money. We will not succumb to the pressure of offering 3-2 on a blackjack to everyone.

                              Thanks for your understanding."
