Thank you everyone for all your input!! This is a great thread because not only can Dunes use this information to make our service more attractive to the customer, but other books can take note as well!!
We will be offering more than just the "Big 4" sports. We just listed those because they are the most popular and most easily discussed. In addition to football, basketball, hockey, and baseball we will offer Golf, soccer, boxing, NASCAR, and futures. Other sports will be added as demand deems necessary.
Betting in progress is something that to our knowledge isn't offered anywhere else (it differs from Interactive Wagering). A customer will be able to call and wager on an event as it is going on--an adjusted line at that time will be given on the event. It is something that will be fine tuned and have clearly stated rules by the time we officially open. The option is currently only available over the phone because software would need to be developed into our package to allow customers the use of this feature over the Internet. It is a project we want to undertake, but one that will take time (we're not going to lie and tell you something is right around the corner when it is not).
Our lines will be set by independent oddsmakers--of course the Don Best feed will be utilized and respected, but the experience we have in-house will no doubt generate a unique feel to the lines offered. It is way too commonplace today to see books that simply copy CRIS's or Olympic's lines. It is good to know that the bettor sees this tactic and disagrees with it.
Our wager minimums and maximum for Internet wagering have yet to be determined--this is something that is set in the software and can be adjusted by us as we see fit--what would all of you like to see in the way of minimums and maximums for Internet wagering? For phone wagering we are thinking of a $25 minimum phone wager and a maximum to be set on a customized basis. But again--these are all policies that can be adjusted or changed based on customer demand.
I hope I have addressed all of the questions posted overnight. If I have missed anything please feel free to remind me!
