What constitutes too much of a "perk"?

    Bob,

    Intelligent questions to be sure.

Many people have different outlooks on this biz though.

WWTS is as solid as a rock, Billy Scott is a pioneer, a visionary and one of my personal heroes. They don't offer squat and you know you'll get paid.

Aces Gold chooses an aggressive marketing campaign, armed with the knowledge that hopefully, most will lose. Enough so to make up the cost of their (what some seem to others as) outrageous deals or "perks."

They offer so much I make sure I always keep them well-funded and if I ever go way down there, I send them money immediately.
There too, I know I'll get paid.

Who am I to say who's right. Frankly, if I ever owned a book I'd probably be more like Aces Gold.

Why, because it's all about percentages. And I believe that what they pay out at Aces Gold in fringesmore than is made up by the extra volume they do.

Gamblers are anything but stupid and they know a great deal when they see it. I would never tell either one of those books how to run their business and don't presume I know more than either one of them and more than that, I respect and admire them both immensely.

They just have two different schools of thought.

I say take advantage of any perks that exist from a book deemed "reputable" by this Board or through other word of month. The caveat to remember is that, as others have stated, the books offering the perks need a bigger "hold" than those not offering them to survive. Thus, I would not give them too much at any one time until you can see how it works out, i.e. get a withdrawal of two. The problem lies, I guess, where 2Gs becomes 20 Gs at the bonus book while you wind up losing money at the book playing it by the book. It is always a sad day for me when I lose the last 50 or 100 bucks in may account and then have to think about reloading. I want a little something extra to go through the hassle of using Western Union, paying its fees, and then my own credit card fees. I'm not in Boomer's league as a player, but I want value too. In trying to get it and through my own ignorance, I have posted with books that are no longer with us and I know at least one of them defrauded its customers. Because I am not such a successful player, I never lost a dime although the one delayed me out of a grand that was coming to me. All the books advertising here are no doubt honest and reputable, but this is no guarantee that one or more won't take such a big hit as to jeopardize its ability to pay. After all, IBM nearly went under a decade ago. Any business can if there is mismanagement, poor vision, or greedy owners.

I might point out that Vegas has been comping gamblers at about 40% of their estimated losses (casino games only of course).

Places like Intertops and Aces Gold can comp pretty heavy as long as the comps bring in more gamblers to the casino.

Similarly I read about several sports books in Vegas that only have a sports book because they want to keep their casino customers.

Bottom line is that if a book has a successful casino then I do not worry as much about any sprots book bonuses they offer.

          mls...

I agree with you about a casino being attached, but remember, in the two cases I have been stiffed, it was not a case of not being able to pay, they just decided they WOULD NOT pay.

They were all too eager to take my money when I posted up, but then when I committed the cardinal sin of winning, they decided not to pay.

Also I go to Vegas occasionally and believe me, if I got 40% back of what I lost, I'd be there all the time. They rate you two ways, first how large you play, and second and even more important, how good or bad a player you are. I've never seen a comp come anywhere near 40%, I think you're off on that figure.
