Don best and cris are partners.They dont have bettors interests at heart.This mar 14 meeting in costa rica will be the flexing of muscles by this group.good books will be thrown off the screen.Nasa sports and Dial-a-bet were thrown off the screen because they were stiffs.Now books will be thrown off the screen for not following the rules set by don best and Cris.If they want a 20 cent line they will make it mandatory to have one.>if not off you go.
They will find many more puppets willing to take the place of the ones who wont play ball.Cris has accquired control of ABC and will take 2 places on the screen,and put ABC's marketing talents to use .and now they control don best and can set whatever agenda they want..Obviously vegas wise guys dont want to see a 20 cent line.The kind of player who uses don best is an educated player with many outs.The only way don best would want a 20 cent line would be if it were in their interest financialy to see one.
There is at present a group of sportbooks who plan to launch a don best like site and give it away for FREE.The costs will be split by the books and will broadcast the lines of these sportbooks.This group plans to invite all sportbooks thrown off don best to be part of the new system.What will don best say???We threw off these sportsbooks because they are no good!!!!!It takes alot to get on the don best screen, and the people who now own the sportbooks on screen are the rock of this industry.Your money is safe with the screen.So once again don best fails to come forward.They could deny it right now,all they have to say is this
"WE WILL NOT THROW ANYONE OFF THE SCREEN FOR BOOKING THE WAY THEY WANT "...BUT THEY WILL NOT
Who knows what kind of great plans don best and the screen books can come up with,if they try to band together and come up with a plan that the screen books get the lion share of new post ups by forming some type of allegiance or how about a way that you post up to one fund and you can bet all screen books.WHO would post with known stiffs like nasa or actionif one post got you 10 ROCK SOLID BOOKS?Lets hope that something positive comes out of this meeting that will be good for bettors and books.What a waste of timeif Cris tries to teavh the screen outs how to book baseball.If they knew how to book baseball they wouldn't have to do this 20 cent garbage in the first place.Maybe after BASEBALL BOOKING 101 is over Olympic could do a seminar on HOOP 101 or Skybook a seminar on HALFTIME 101. Ithink the bookies on the screen know what they are doing or they wouldn't already be the elite of this industry.

I understand the cost and exclusive membership thing about the premium odds feed, and I wouldn't blame other books from looking into starting their own service.

But as I understand it, a large number of other books are to be added to the Island Express service. And presumably players can make wagers directly from this service with multiple books. If this is open to more books, and low cost to players and books, then it seems that is a very good option.

As far as a movement to 20 cent baseball lines, I've stated before: if this happens, then neither these books, nor the live odds service that carries their lines, will be useful to serious bettors during this season. In other words, the problem will take care of itself.

I don't ask these questions suspiciously, it's just a practice around here (I notice that this is your second post) to give the other posters some idea of where an opinion comes from before posting it.

We don't want to know exactly who you are. Of course we respect people's privacy. But it does help us to know what someone's interest in an issue is as we weigh and consider the opinion they offer.

Eggroll has some valid points. I also think Don Best is involved with CRIS. I was told that CRIS lines were provided by ROXY. Well we all know that is not true. I think the summit in Costa Rica needs to be more about the legal issues facing offshore sports books rather than 20 cent baseball lines. We all saw what happened to Jay Cohen and the guys at Paradise Casino. Millions in fines and possible jail time. If the government even thinks Don Best is in bed with offshore people they will close them. I hope not. Dana Corbo is a good guy who needs to stay away from any deals that would put his business in jeopardy.

OLD MAN + and anyone else in doubt

I really liked how you wrote your post. I too will start with a disclaimer. My post here will be VERY long. To those of you that dont like what I have to say or long posts please simple dont read it. After all it is also just my observation.
I am noticing more and more it seems that everyone needs some sort of disclaimer in their posts. That protection against those who cant wait to jump in and insult the person or the post. As I always say its a shame we now need these disclaimers and it would be nicer I feel if the people who do not like certain posts simply do not read them and keep the insults to themselves.
I have noticed more and more that one needs to really follow this forum every single day to keep up. Many times a post will be in one thread refering to a person or post from another thread. Thus I often see a person being crucified for making a post without full understanding of whats being discussed. This goes as well for people who make posts about this industry. Of course certain people will know a lot more then others and rightfully so. I still feel everyone should be welcomed and not crucified.
So with that in mind I will begin , and of course I will throw in my disclaimer. This is an observation. Lets remember though how involved in this industry I am. How many bettors I know. How many bookmakers I know, and the fact that I live on Margarita island.
So heres my observation (based I feel on plain and simple unequivocal facts)
Margarita was taken off the screen for the most important reason of them all. At that time there were people not being paid. I know quite a few of them and so do the people at Donbest. I really doubt it was just an amazing coincidence that the exact time they stopped honoring their lines on the feed it just so happened to be the time these people werent being paid.( Also this is a whole different issue that we can go into. Why would anyone put up a line if they didnt want it to be bet? This is a complaint that I really dont take to serious. Less then 1 % of the time this happens. It is unavoidable) I also, as I am sure all of you commend Donbest for their practice of doing this. This is the greatest service of them all I feel that they provide to their clients. They do quite extensive research on all their books way before they get put up on the feed. The moment one of their books doesnt pay a client is the moment you have seen the last of their lines.
We all know by now by far the most important criteria of any book is simply this, IS THEIR MONEY GOOD. When Margarita was taken off the screen years back it was for the most important reason of them all. People were not being paid. At the time a few years back when Margarita and its higher ups parted ways it was for that reason. It took a lot of money and work for the people that remained. They should be commended for eventually prevailing. They believed in the most important criteria of them all. Pay their clients.
This leads me to the present day years later and the thread started by Darlene on Saturday. I loved her post. I feel based on simple facts she showed that the state of her company is fine. She stated that her company is currently on the Sportstracker live odds feed. Another very fine and well respected live odds feed. A fine, top notch, well respected company like Sportstracker, would not risk their reputation on a book if they did not feel the book was solid. Margarita is right up there on the Sportstracker feed next to many top notch books, some you see right there on your Donbest feed as well. She also states they plan to go back up on Donbest in the coming weeks, and we all know how important it is to Donbests reputation to only have books in good shape up on their feed.
I can also add because I am right down the block and know many people from there that I have not recieved any indication of problems whatsoever. In fact quite the opposite. My friends tell me they are doing quite well.

Now to all those who liked what I just had to say I thank you. I assume you know that I wouldnt be where I am in this business if I wasnt aware at all times why, when , and where something was happening. To those who didnt like it I apologize beforehand. I can remind you also as I have previously stated that if you dont like what I have to say you dont have to read it or you could have stopped at any time.

Now with that in mind I can move forward to Donbests post. I happen to like Brett and his posts. I thought the exchange we had went very well. Like I always say I have no problem with negative posts about Skybook done the right way. I didnt , until now feel the need to say to Brett his post really was about two different issues and that one of them wasnt valid at all. I just wanted to help him the best way I could. As I told him before I dont like that method of running the floor either. I agree with him the operator shouldnt have to check always to see if the line is good. I have said that many times in the past. I can also say that at times this happens in every book on the feed. As far as it being brought to my attention I already went over that with brett.
I am not even on Margarita island right now never the less near the floor. I already told him he can call Sky personally and I am sure he will be more then happy with how his phone call goes.
The thing is if you reread his post there is nothing for Sky or I to correct. You at Donbest know as well as any of us how the syndicates operate. BRETT HIMSELF SAYS when steam hits the screen he cant get the number at Skybook. You have to agree with me that this is a very silly statement. I just thought I would let it go because he isnt as knowledgeable in this area as you and I. I didnt feel the need to resond with some sort of insult or negative post stating that.
Of course he cant get the number at Skybook when a steam game hits the screen. How ridiculous is that. The syndicates themselves cant even get down at all their own numbers. These plays are released by phone, radio, and computor long before they hit the screen. Of course he can not get the number by waiting for steam to hit the screen and then calling the books looking for the number.
As far as I was concerned there was nothing for me to correct. It was a silly statement and everyone in the world knows he isnt going to get a steam play at the number by looking at the screen. I just didnt feel the need to respond with this type of post, I dont feel a negative post always needs to be replied to with another negative post.
I also like Bretts posts and his use of this forum. Should he be punished for not being as knowledgeable as to how the steam plays work as maybe you and I are? I didnt think so before and still dont think so.
So again I cant be asked to correct a problem that doesnt exist. You and I know for sure he will never get the number of a steam play by waiting for it to hit the screen. Bretts other issue I feel is an issue with how Skybook runs its floor.( Which has nothing to do with the number on the screen) I feel I did my best to help him there and assured him he would be more then happy with the outcome of his conversation with Sky.
To all the clients of Donbest, Sportstracker, and any other of the fine live odds feeds. To all those books involved in the formation of this new feed.( It sounds real interesting and I too am curious to hear more about it.) There will always be some clients complaining he didnt get the number he saw on his screen. This will never ever change. These complaints will always remain pale in comparison to the complaint of a client not being paid by a book. They will remain also pale in comparison to the many many people who always get the number they see on the screen. Unfortunatly the nature of the business is such that if we all posted everytime we recieved the number we saw on the feed it would become really , really redundant. After all over 99% of the time the number quoted is exactly the same as the number on the screen at that moment.

That post took me a lot of time and effort. It took a lot of thought and over 3 hours of work went into it. So I really hope some of you appreciate it. If only one person takes something away from it then I will feel rewarded. Onto my last disclaimer, to those that dindt like it you could have stopped reading at any time, or never began reading it in the first place.
