This has become a big topic. Books going to the 20 cent line. I have stated a number of times Skybook will stay with the 10 cent line and we will. We will use the same line we always use. When the fav is 92 cents then the line will sway from the 10 cent platform. That is the norm.
In years past there were bookmakers. Very good ones and very successful ones. Bookmaking is a talent and a skill. Today there are 100`s upon 100`s of sportsbooks out there. Because one takes sportbets that does not make them a bookmaker.
This business and all of us companys should work together at all times , but we cant lose sight of what is really going on. We are in competition. Like restaurant owners, shoe companys, car dealers, clothing stores, and on and on. Competition. The good survive the bad dont. Some make money and some dont.
I have spoken with several of my friends who own other books. They all had very successful football seasons. Skybook didnt. Ours sucked. Why? who knows. Maybe the others were better bookmakers then us. I think this is the case to tell you the truth. I dont think we knew what the hell we were doing. I know this though we kept booking and kept paying.
I never thought to myself that I wish I
could make everyone else change to benefit me. How about a 3 point line in football. You can lay 8 but only take 5. Boy that would have helped me save a lot of money. That is ridiculous though. How could I tell someone else how to run there company.
I spoke at length with Charlie from sport market. He feels as I do. He will use a 10 cent line. He will not change. Why? well isnt it obvious. He like Skybook obviously has no problem in baseball and profits. I also spoke with another Donbest book friend as well. He does not plan to change either. (I forgot to ask him if I could make that public knowledge so I wont say who it is. Nor should I have to.)To those who think eveyone is losing in baseball its not true. To those who think everyone has to do the same thing its not true either. If coke adds more sugar to their soda does pepsi have to as well?
We all keep taking about this just being a business decision, and it is. That is why Skybook will never switch. Why change a successful business around. Like I have said in the past the public is not stupid and will not bet a 20 cent line in baseball. They
will play with the books with the 10 cent line and that means even more business for Skybook and the others that deal the 10 cent line.
To those that ask me am I sure over and over. Yes I am sure. Just like my other 2 friends and the other books that I dont know about but you readers do.
I cant wait for baseball season to start.
Thanks Lance
