  • Banking in Antigua

I am looking to open a bank account in Antigua with a bank that would allow wire tranfers over the phone. Can anyone recommend any?

Call Guy at Premiere League and ask his advice. I think he can hook you up.

I recieved info about a Bank of Antigua for a credit card(visa), this info was sent to me through millenium sports(www.millsports.com).

You must deposit money to B.O.A and then you can recieve and send funds to sportsbooks.

I think this is ideal because its an offshore bank that issues the card and the account info should stay offshore,if you know what I mean.

Someone said that you still have to report offshore accounts to the IRS...

Maybe someone who knows a lot about banking offshore can say which islands are the best as far as confidentiality goes, because if you choose not to report the account then you better be with a tight bank that will keep things quiet no matter what.

I can only recommend placs farther away like Switzerland, but at least they will keep their lips shut no matter which government comes knocking on the door.

Actually Switzerland is no longer the confidentiality haven it used to be. They have been cooperating more and more often with the US. This includes revealing and even freezing/seizing bank accounts.

They won't do it for taxes but they will help the US for drugs or money laundering. And let's not forget the US can just yell money laundering for just about anything.

Antigua has very good secrecy laws in place that are upheld. Take a look at Swiss American Bank in Antigua.

            Cheers

One thing I don't like about the banks in Antigua is the high fees for bank drafts and outgoing wires. The more you transfer out, the higher the fee. 1/4% for bank drafts, 1/2% for wires.

Thanks for your responses. I phoned Guy at Premiere League and he was very helpful in this area. I would recommend calling him at 1-888-221-2288 for those of you who are also interested in this.

Skeptic, If you're not laundering money for the mob in millions or making millions by dealing with the Columbians then a Swiss bank will not reveal anything about you. They won't even say if you have an account or not. Or try Luxembourg, a very nice place with tight banks as well.

Having an offshore bank account someplace like Antigua, that would make transfers for you, sounds convenient. Is your money safe? I mean, could someone else call (pretending to be you) and ask for money to be transferred someplace?

Do they pay interest on balances?

Do they offer debit cards (VS/MC)?

Do any of them offer internet access to account balances and such?

                    Thanks for any info.

BigMoney, Your money is safe there. You are given a password to make transfers, request acct info, etc. They pay interest in Antigua but only on your low balance of the month. So if you keep an average 5 figure balance but one day your balance drops to 2000, you only get interest on 2000. V/MC cards are available. One of the banks (Swiss American?) has a touch tone system to check balances, etc.
