      AV,

As far as I know, they've never stopped broadcasting on the Internet. Did you check http://www.1on1sports.com during that time?

For anyone who is familiar with them... remember John Renshaw? He was fired and never heard from again? He's doing his show on the Internet at: http://www.freaksports.com

Checked it out last week. Gotta give the guy credit for trying this, but I'm not sure it it'll work just yet.

well, it was very hard to find for a time back there - or maybe I just did not know about their new broadcast partner/plugin type deal - as every station that carried it I would get a message about program not being carried at the request of the rightsholders - that was a few months ago though

Geez, what is this - the 1984 network?

Edit people completely out of history?

                win,

Arnie was either fired or he quit. All I know is that he was gone and I never heard reference to his departure.

                AV,

Renshaw didn't do one thing that got him fired. I think it was his style clashed with the managers.

                This network is pathetic.

First of all, it's all white guys all the time. Much in sports talk now focuses on issues outside the fields (Rocker, etc.) - how about a little variety in opinions or perspectives?

Second, they used to have a message board on their site and they killed it because too many people complained about Renshaw's firing.
Ironic, given that the censoring was done by a company that depends on freedom of speech, etc.

I seldom listen and when I do it is mostly for amusement. Some of these guys are totally wacked out.

My favorite quote is from Jay Mariotti (sp?) who is also a columnist for the Chicago Sun Times. During the Rocker debacle he said:
"I'm all for freedom of speech. But I think it should be limited once it hurts someone."

                LOL!

Media oligopolies are never about freedom of speech

cf advertisers that want to advertise on public holidays

'don't go out and buy stuff today'

they will never allow that sort of ad on, so there is no free speech there
US media more heavily censored than some too
no breasts on free to air tv etc.

I didn't listen to the other guys except occasionally, just interested in Kemp, but sports radio is pretty white boy anywhere, I think - well, don't know if Kenya has sports radio, but England, Australia, US, presumably NZ too........ not that we have sports radio stations in the same way......

Arne's contract was not renewed and I heard he is currently doing Sports Talk in The Mornings in LA Radio. Renshaw is doing a Sports Show on The Internet. I heard they were both let go because they Talked ALOT about Sports Betting. Arne's whole show was about it and it was funny as hell. Peter Browne is probably next. The network used to be great, now it sux. When Peter's let go, that'll be the end because Marriotti and the Morning show are hard to listen to.

You guys are right about Mariotti. He is just a big anti-gambling hypercrite. One on One takes advertising for offshores and services while he is on a big puritanical crusade against all of them.

so they should fire Kemp to
he reads lines out on his show all the time
                        and gives selections!

doesn't talk about much else at bowl time I seem to remember

so that is a bull**** reason to fire someone
