  • Referral Bonuses

I got an e-mail from a sportsbook manager (and NO it's NOT Intertops), asking if I'd post a question about referral bonuses on the site. Apparently the place asks where new signees heard about the place. Most answered "from a friend", yet hardly any bother with referral bonuses - this place apparently gives a bonus to both the signee and the person who gave the referral.

Can anyone help. Is it red tape, too much hassle, not spelled out well enough? The manager can't understand why anyone would pass up on free money.

(BTW, editors note here: - I think the guy is right although I never used his book so I don't know what's entailed in getting the bonus. But for most places when I have used a referral), it takes two seconds - simply mentioning to a clerk that xyz referred you).

Just curious Hart. What book are we talking about here?

U-Dog e-mail me and I'll let you know. I'm guessing because I was e-mailed by the manager rather than having him just ask on the site that he didn't want the book identified here.

FWIW, it is a major book.

Referral bonuses programs are NOT a good marketing promotion strategy.

Unless you are a very good friend or relatives with the people that you have/have been referred, most of the time there are a lots of troubles involved and you will just forced to forget about the bonuses.

Hartley, its not just as easy to say xyz to the clerks most of the time.

Most of the time, you will need the other people's account no., real name and maybe other information and you will need both parties to inform the books and then there maybe some restrictions applied (such as you need to wait a certain period of time or the guy need to play a certain amount of money in the account for you to get the bonus).

I've got another poster here lately want to give me a referral bonus for a new account he opened in a book. I appreaciated for his kindness and I appreciated him for writing at least 5 to 6 emails to inform me and the books to get me the bonus (and still I need to reconfirm with the book again), but for the book, they really should think about simplify all the procedures.

I have referred a very good friend to open an account at Itops not long ago. They have a referral program too, when you open an new account and made a deposit with $250 (maybe $300) or more, the people and his referee will get $25 each. But the restriction is the guy need to bet a minimum amount at least once to get the bonus. Well, its not that much but hey its free money. So the guy put my name on it and he bet over the minimum required a week already, but we both haven't get the bonus yet.

I am going to email Itops next couple days to ask them why.

But hey, if you are not that close a friend to the guy, will you ask him,

"hey man, have you bet over the minimum yet that I can get my bonus?"

Comon, books. If you really want to attract more business by the referral bonus programs, at least have your customer service managers do a better job about it.

Ray you're are correct but their are some that didn't require account number to make referrals valid. I'd referred a couple of my good buddies in fact some are from here BW (very few)and the normal standard procedure is, action first before bonus kicks in. But I hear you Ray, it is quite dangerous to exchange information most specially to people you don't really know. My policy is, below $200, forget it.

Sounds good to me Ray. I have no idea about Itops and while I've recommended tons of people (many who signed up), I never even bothered to mention about the bonus - mainly because most of the referrals were before Intertops instituted their referral policy. But I also would never recommend a place just because of a referral. If I find a place substandard I'll tell the person.

I never give out personal info. but if someone asks for information on a place like WSEX, Intertops or Bowman's I'll often say "By the way if you sign up mention my name as a referral". My attitude is that if I'm willing to do some "selling" for the book why shouldn't I profit from it.

BTW, as far as I understand Intertops' policy, as soon as the person bets what is the minimum deposit ($200 I believe), then you get the bonus. If your friend bet that money then you should have received the bonus. Just call the company - I'm sure it was an oversight.

I believe that part of the problem is tracking who sent whom.

They guy you send gains nothing from taking the time to tell them who sent 'em. So - no incentive is the problem.

Belive me, I'll take all the bonus money they will send me. A $50 bonus is nothing to sneeze at guys.

                As always - Good Luck,

                Sonny
