I'm with you phaedrus--the icons clutter up things and don't broadcast anything significant about the posts. If anybody knows the idea behind them I'd be interested in having it stated.

Count me in as well. How about we do this:
let's leave things as they are for another 8-12 weeks. If by then we still don't like these pesky icons, then let's remove them.

It's human nature to dislike change, but maybe time will be the solution. Like I said, if we don't like it 2-3 months down the road then let's abolish it.

I think my icon says it all. I don't like them. It clutters things up. Like typing all caps all the time. If icons are on every post, it diminishes the effect of them and makes the site look frivolous when it is not.

Although for a HTML brain-dead guy like me, I'd sure like a place to cut and paste these symbols into text that I write, as after all this time I still can't get a smiley face to work.

Boomer, all you do is type ":" followed by ")" and the software does the rest for you. You should get this every time.

Actually, the smiley faces come with the forum...nothing I did.

However, I do take full resposibility for the latest icons. I checked the on/off button for those icons just for the hell of it to see what it would do..........they are now gone forever
