As a gambler with many high balances at a number of sportsbooks, I want to vehemently urge sportsbooks, both internet and phone only to take the following precautions Friday morning as we approach Y2K.
1. Make a paper hard copy printout of all of your accounts balances at the start of business Friday morning.
2. Make offsite backup copies taking a snapshot of all your client's accounts at the beginning of business Friday morning.
For gamblers such as myself, I plan to make a tape of my balance verification on Friday morning at each book where I have a account along with screen shots of my internet account balances where offered.
I plan on saying the words for my tape "do you agree that at the start of business on Friday December 31, at 11:00 A.M. Eastern time, that my balance is such and such and that your name or operator number is so and so and that you do hereby verify that my balance is so much."
Any book that doesn't take these simple intelligent precautions and has balance discrepancies will get reemed to the maximum by me on this site.
No one knows what this Y2K will bring, but whatever it brings, do your homework and have a hard copy printout before it occurs. I don't care what technician told you "the problem is solved", there are lines of computer code that maybe he missed. Do your homework and don't make us sorry we didn't pull our money out for this event.
