Did anyone else (besides Arz backers) feel the pain when Buffalo ran back that onside kick Sunday nite? I was on the verge of nailing the biggest middle of my life when the most improbable finish happened. I was praying before the kick that the Bills would be able to recover the ball as I had seen two successful onside kicks earlier in the day. But I forgot to guard against the onside kick return for a touchdown which happens about once every five years! As Reno advises, some practice in delayed gratification.

That was the toughest 2 dimes I ever lost. I have had better numbers to middle this year thanever before, but by in large they have not fallen. Sunday I had huge middles to shoot for and came up empty. My bestshot, besides Buff was the total on Ind/Wash. Early in the week I bet over 49' for all I could get down an buy most of itback at under 53', many scenarios where that could have hit, oh well, such is the fate of those of us who thrive on he 20-1 payoffs.

I just missed it too. I’m not even a middle player, typically. I play for I guess what would be fairly small stakes compared to a lot of the people in this forum, I have only three outs, and I shop those to get the best line for my pick. About the only way I’d bet a middle is if I stumbled into one without really looking for it.
On this occasion, I liked BUFF by about 5.5 points, which in my system justified a one unit bet, assuming I could get it at –3. I knew the line had been hovering at or just above 3. I called my three outs a few minutes before kickoff. One had it at 3, one at 3.5, and one at 4, all for standard vig. So I played three units on BUFF –3 and two units on ARIZ +4, the imbalance making it still comparable to a one unit BUFF bet. Then I just sat back and rooted for a 3 or 4 point BUFF victory.
This was literally the only middle I’ve bet all season, and we certainly gave them a run for their money. If I missed the middle, I was better off with a BUFF cover, so I can’t complain. I basically won a one unit bet, minus a little extra vig.
Still, the game of the week for gut-wrenching twists and turns was clearly that DEN-SEA game. I had various combinations of bets on SEA, where I needed SEA +8 for some, SEA +2 for some, and SEA straight up for some. I can’t believe how many times late in that game it looked like a lock to win all three or lose all three. In the end, I got an unsatisfactory one out of three, but what a game for the fans and the gamblers! I can’t remember a game in a long time that had that much of a roller coaster quality to it in the final several minutes and overtime.

That's pretty funny. I was just thinking of Sunday night and my lost ten dime middle on that onside kick. I promise myself in football I'll never get too excited as I haven't hit a pure middle all year and I EXPECT to get screwed in the final seconds.
Ba-da-bing, ba-da-boom, as I was counting the money in my bankroll it happened. I wasn't even shocked or major pissed. I just sighed-what could have been...
Why is football still my favorite sport!!! When Oakland can beat Tampa Bay 45-0 and a lone ranger can break out of the pack and return an onside kick for a touchdown to spoil my 10 dime middle. I don't get it.
Am I the only one or is Pro Football the LEAST predictable of all major American sporting events.
Well, I'm off to Vegas for the Millenium.
Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, and Happy New Year, Millenium-style to all my buds on this site and all of you in other countries in the business.
See you next Millenium...

Did anyone have a very profitable season middling football?
Take away the joints offering 1/2 points, free vig. and 1/2 vig., and football middling would really be the pits. There just isn't the line movement and line diversity that there used to be. Unless you've got a private out with different lines, it's a tough way to make serious money.

Best holiday wishes to you too Boomer, and to all the other colorful Bettorsworld characters!
To all those struggling through a screwy, unpredictable football season (I'm just below even for the season), look on the bright side: When the world ends in a few days and we're all dead, none of it will really matter.

I did not show a profit on football. A couple of ncaa totals landed and very early a few nfl games came in, but the last half nothing. Normally some of those 3 point favorites land on the number, but not this year. So far the hoops is looking better, happy holidays to all.

I have showed a profit middling the NFL this year but not as good as last year. I have a number of excellent outs. Last year the 7's landed alot, but this year only a few have landed. The 3's are missing and those are the one's that used land at a high %. I think the games are more unpredictable enabling them to drift away from the #'s more than usual. Also, the scoring increase of the past 3 weeks hasn't helped either. More chances of games getting away from the key #'s. It's been profitable, but very frustrating.

Last night the hard work paid off. Finally 2 NCAA hoops games came in. The Kan/Prin game was a clean middle and I caught a side on the Fresno/Cornell contest. Would love to trade some ideas, stratgies, favorite outs for certain situations and other useful info for limit players who middle. There are as many money making opps out there as you have time to find. Brett e-mail me at randyrohm7@webtv.net and let me run something by you.
