Thank you Shifty/Boomer. I didn't realize how Olympic worked....but I'm going to sign up this afternoon. I noticed that today WSEX has a moneyline on the SJ/ATL game and Carib doesn't....just the opposite of of the other night. Olympic sounds like a good out no matter how rude they get on the phone.

Guys,
hockey and basketball are 2 totlly different sports, in terms of scoring.
Baseketball is a possession game while hockey is more the same as soccer in terms of scoring (although the scores will be higher).
Almost every baseketball game, you will see some 8-0 run or 10-0 run happened within 1 or two minutes. Normally speaking, the higher the score of a sport, the more the variables will be involving and that makes the spread betting more practical than low scoring sports.
But you seldom will see a hockey team scores 2 or 3 goals within 1 or 2 minutes (there are some but rare, I remember in a Col game last year, they scored 2 or 3 goals in the last minutes to tie 3-3).
Theoratically speaking, in a high scoring sport like basketball, the bigger the gap between the two teams , the bigger it should be shown in the winning margin. Thats why spread betting work in those sports like football and basketball.
But for hockey and soccer, it may not be the same case. Often you will see some 1-0 or 2-0 score but those were dominating games by the superior teams. Because the scoring system is so different, sometime it so hard to give more than 1 goal. And thats why the Asian line in soccer is also been called the quater line, as try to divide the spread into a smaller segment.
Now, onto the moneyline. For some spots, when you betting on a soccer/hockey team as a favor, on the moneyline or on the handicap line could be a huge different story.
Sometime it really relys on the matchups. Bettors will go large on the moneyline for the favors even when they are between -300 to -400 (still bettable range for a lot of people) but they will be stay away from that stinky -1.5 goal line.
If the favor team is especially strong on defense/so-so on offense and the underdog is weak on offense/strong on defense, this is a prefectly matchup for the moneyline play.
Like AV done some numbers on the Premiere early this season, MU had covered most of their league games in Asian line so far. One of the reason is they have a strong offense, so instead of taking the moneyline, sometimes it would be better for you to take the Asian other than 3-way.
But when you look at some teams like the Gunners or Leeds (strong defensive teams), when they were favors in the Asian, it could be another story.
Hockey should be a similar story, lines and bettors choices should be vary from matchups.
Convertion tables, how much is a half point worth, etc are dead thing. The mind of a good BM is live and he should be flexible from time to time.
If I can see that when I hang out a -300 moneyline out there and only getting one-sided action, why should i take the risk?
Let them play the 1.5 goal line.
