Pinnacle, IMO if you can avoid purchasing "one size fits all software" - i.e. Starnet, Cryptologic etc. it would probably be best. Politics aside, I find the Starnet and Cryptologic sites all look the same and aren't very flexible in case you want to add features specific to yourselves.

    My opinion anyway.

No-one seemed to mention some of these ones, so I'll give them a brief rating.

Sportingbet - very clean and simple to place a bet, a little slow to manouevre around the site. Love their confirmation screen.

William Hill - again very clean site, right from the start, multi-currency, tricky multiple bet system though.

Centrebet - too many screens to get through for mine, and then you've got to wait for approval.

Megasports - bit like WSEX once you get into the price pages. Very bland, but efficient.

DAS - frames based like WSEX, but quite quick, unless you catch them on a big Aussie raceday.

Intertops - love their site with all the info etc, but slow to load with all the graphics.

Olympic - echo everyone else - excellent.

I love Intertops and think the site is easy to use and navigate but I figured I wouldn't say anything since I'm seen as a shill here for them anyways. I also love WSEX's site as it updates immediately and is easy to get around.

Centrebet is a good site and I like the fact you can bet with a debit to your credit card rather than having to have a balance in your account. They don't cater to Americans though.

Another site that is well laid out IMO, even though I never used it is sportingbet.com.

THERE ARE SEVERAL ON THE MARKET I HAVE WORKED WITH TWO OF THEM AND THEY ARE BOTH REAL NICE IT ALL DEPENDS ON YOUR CUSTOMER BASE AND WHAT YOU WANT IT TO HANDLE FOR YOU THINGS LIKE AUTOMOVE CHANGING LIMITS AT NIGHT LETTING CERTAIN CUSTOMERS HIT YOU ONE TIME FOR A NICKEL AT NIGHT AND SO ON AND SO FORTH THIS CAN ACTUALLY TURN THINGS IN LOTS OF DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS FOR YOU SOME OF WHICH MAY NOT BE IN YOUR FAVOR BUT NOTHING THAT COULDN'T BE CHANGED OR IMPROVED AS TIME GOES BY...

My personal opinion and best experience is with a program, that
              1. you do not need to download
              2. is the same being used by the clerks that pickup the phone when you call in as a customer (this means you can do both online or on the phone with the same account)
              3. is not one where you get different lines wich are just for the on-line customers
              4. very user friendly
              5. confirmation for availability, then confirmation of bets and amounts, when you are done

Basically, you can call the customer support and ask about it at 1-800-267-0922, they will be obliged to explain it and even show you it. The ones in charge are young, dynamic, always enthousiastic to see what else the book will need as a specialty

                Best (Note I have WEBTV):
                1) WSEX (BY FAR)
                2) Carib
                3) Starnet Group
                4) Nasa (Betonsports.com)
                5) SIA/Easybets Software
                Worst:
                1) Big Book
                2) Millennium/ABC Island Software- Although I love both Books, Their software is horrible for WEBTV users.

Carib is second to none. Site is never down, Lines quickly accessible and fast during crunch time.

Pinnacle, I find Betmaker's to be one of the best by far and it's constantly improving. Also, let me provide you with the info I got from Casablanca when I was doing my own research for an article related to online gaming software. Casablanca has designed their own inhouse software for the sportsbook and will soon be integrating this with their casino. Certainly worth a look:

                    >>>The in-house software was developed over the course of the 1998 football season. For the previous six years we had used the QNX system that had pretty much dominated the market at the time. We were very happy with the QNX system based on two things: the speed and user friendliness of the program.

When we decided to build our own we focused on these two points. The program itself was written in Visual Basic. It runs off a Windows NT Server w/ an Oracle Database. It was created by a programmer that presently owns the rights to any future sales of the product.

At the current time we have the phone system as well as the internet system. A Casino is being developed that will integrate with the sports package. The Casino is scheduled to be completed (12 Games) by the Spring of 2000. This will give us plenty of time to have any potential customers up and running with the entire 3 in 1 package by the start of Football 2000.

Personally, I have looked at the other systems on the market and I am not very impressed. The majority have been designed by companies who do not know the details involved in the sports gaming business. The main differential of our system from those on the market is that it was tailored made to suit my business. We literally made changes and updates everyday throughout football last year. Every time we solved a problem it made the product that much better than the other systems on the market.

For every customer that we sell the program to we pay extra attention to what their needs are. We all work in the same business but do not service the same customers. When you purchase the program you are free to choose the reports you need and we will design new reports to suit your needs. The program is extremely flexible and we work towards satisfying each customers individual needs.

If anyone is ever interested in a live demo we will come to their office and demonstrate our program. We will evaluate their current system and show them how ours could better suit their needs.

The software company that designed and supports the program is based in the US and would be happy to give a live demo anytime.

The program is priced extremely competitively. The entire sports package is the cheapest I have seen on the market<<<<

Regarding Intertops, perhaps nobody dislikes the Intertops site more than Intertops themselves. They were supposed to have upgraded this summer and a few of us were asked to provide an honest critique of the site. I find it very slow and lags behind many of the other leaders in the industry and the design is not that great either. I would expect nothing but the best from Intertops when they do eventually upgrade the system.

Echo the consensus mostly re Olympic etc. I would add I like sites such as Grand Central and Aces Gold which allow you to select pitchers in baseball. Hate sites which time out.
