  • Buzz Bin Suggestion

Sting, I'll make my suggestion here since your string seems to have gotten hijacked.

I'd really like to read stuff about all of these characters who have all of my money offshore. Who are the people behind all of the books. Where are they from? How did they get started? How did they end up offshore and such.

I remeber a couple of years ago Esquire or GQ or some such rag did a big piece on the kids behind GSC (now Betmaker) and Intertops.
All these guys...Jay Cohen....William Caesar...etc. etc.. I'd like to know more about them

Bob, This is actually my plan since I find this all so fascinating. I have one book already lined up and I've mentioned this to some other people. I was also hoping some of the other sportsbooks would be interested - Skybook, Polar definately. I dare say I'm reading this thread before I even go to the one I started. I'm almost afraid to read since I have the posts responses tied in with my email and all it is for the most part is Skybook and Polar....I know it's got to be good.

I'd love to do stories along the line of that GQ article over a year ago. One of the best (if not the best closeup look at the industry and three of its key players - Global Sports Connection (Betmaker.com); Intertops; and some sleazy character in the online gaming business). That was a fantastic article which dove into the lives of Betmaker's owners and Intertops head man who in that interview stated he would be retiring this year at the ripe old age of 30.
It just so happens that these are two of my personal favorite books also.

      Sting,

If you want suggestions for the research biz, how about detailed legislative reports on the various jurisdictions sportsbooks are in - are what are the actual laws, licenses, etc. in places like the Isle of Man, Antigua, Gibraltar, etc. - depending on the place I guess someone with a scanner could make copies

Obviously I have read the ones for oz, but this would be a very useful thing for everyone, I think - fair bit of work though, but I would imagine quite popular.

Of course just about everyone who is an American and works in an offshore book or owns an offshore book uses a fake name.

Then of course hometowns and such prior to going offshore will have to be changed for obvious reasons.

When all this is factored in, what you'll be reading about is a bunch of guys whose names aren't their own, from places that they never even heard of.

Although there are in fact plenty of English/Aussie success stories that would be very interesting to read about, not to mention those that openly gave out their names and other info prior to the gov't causing havoc.

Maybe some day those that have become successful in this industry(from the US) will be able to proudly be able to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothin but the truth.

Not the way things are now though........
