Super Sportsbook Domain Name Up For Sale....$70,000

The person who owns this domain site has it up for auction and I've been informed that word SUPER is pretty universal which could add value to this site name. Curious as to any feedback regarding this name.

No...I'm actually trying to get feedback for the person who is selling the name. The domain name can be found at greatdomainnames.com.


The name's been up for one month and remains up for six. Just prior to the 6th month, GreatDomains actively markets the name in an attempt to find a buyer.


BTW, Stingsbuzzbin.net and Stingsbuzzbin.org were both purchased by the same group that attempted to run a ripoff Bettorsworld site (now cut from their service provider). The domain name game is some pretty hot stuff if you ask me.

The name is available to anybody who would like to open an online sportsbook (i.e. just as Wallstreet.com was sold for over a million dollars). Hartley, you seem like you might be interested.

Sportsbook domains come up on e-bay as well. I've bought a couple of non-sportsbook related ones. It seems that VERY few domain names that are placed for sale are actually sold. Greatdomains boast impressive averages for the names they list that are actually sold but it seems that the very vast majority remain unsold etc. Your friend may have a gem (although it's a bit long). Unless he needs the money now, time is probably very much on his side. Accurate valuations as to value are all over the place though.

a lot of these domain names are similar but the VC address should not plresent a problem. Just look at Sportbet.com and Sportingbet.com, etc... as an example.

I remember reading that companies can sue and reclaim domain names that are being used to catch surfers who misspell their own site names. So Amazon should be able to put an end to Amazom, who is clearly counting on a spelling mistake to attract clients. Some companies are also registering their names as if they were misspelled, such as the Gillette company registering gilette.com .

I agree, supersportsbook wouldn't be that similar to superbook, but it does sound a little cheesy...

Apparently people buy names and then blackmail companies with it too. For example, if say gmsucks.com hadn't been registered people would buy up this name, put pictures of horrific car crashes involving GM cars on there, and GM would have to buy it for a lot of money just to shut it down.

BTW Cons, what is walstreet.com? Before I open it I want to make sure it's not some kind of sick porno site. I notice from whois that it's registered to Network Solutions.
