Dear Mr. Reno,

No disrespect intended but I knew exactly what you were doing in regards to dog end scalps in baseball. In a previous post by yourself you attested to that fact.
If as you contend I was merely following the don best screen how was it that you were able to scalp the number?
I was giving you $3000 a game, other players in the house I was giving up to $20,000 at the same number you got and they were doing the exact same thing you were doing.
What was the difference?
They were playing me all there own personal plays not just waiting to catch me on the end of dog scalps.
I posted those kind of numbers so that my day to day players could go out and earn.
I can assure you when I was letting you take +65 on a baseball game I could easily have gone out and laid -63 and with commission to boot.
I am not saying you did anything wrong but when I stretch a number I hope my day to day players can earn with it because I know their money will stay in the house.
As a professional, I just can't allow somebody to take +65 when I can go lay -63 and then have them take my money to go pay another book.
When KY played on the Thursday night game awhile back this year I was dealing the game 7 when the Don Best screen was painted 6.5 and 6.
It is grossly unfair for anybody to characterize any book as a copy cat book without actually seeing how their work is bet.
As I told you when I spoke to you I meant you no disrespect and I appreciated your position having been told I was persona non grata in probably more places than yourself.
This is merely a statement of our position in regards to this matter and not the first shot in a war between betmaker.com and Reno.

Betmaker, I stand by my observation that last season you were updating baseball totals pretty much according to the Don Best Screen average. Regarding baseball sides, your lines were also, in general, pretty much the norm. It took me weeks to accumulate the 15 or so plays that got me 86ed, and many of the numbers I bet at Betmaker I could have bet elsewhere at the same number. If another account at the same time had the same line but my balance there was low, then I'd put it in at Betmaker.

Interestingly enough, the season before last, Betmaker was one of my best outs for scalping. But last season was a totally different story.

As mls observed, Betmaker's numbers are now generally industry-average lines that one can beat elsewhere. Naturally, it is your prerogative to put up whatever lines you deem appropriate. Likewise, a function of Bettorsworld is to provide a forum that educates readers about the pros and cons of different sportsbooks. From my perspective, the pro about Betmaker is that you are a super-solid book that no one should worry in the least about getting paid from. The cons are your lack of different betting lines and the fact that you do 86 people.

You make a lot of good points about the similarity between the 5% juice and the 10% signup bonus.

It should be noted that I have always been kind of suspicious of the 10% signup deals myself, so I find myself agreeing with you now.

When I get back from Vegas, I think I'm going to give you guys a try. Is the 5% offer a time-limited thing, or is it going to be a permanent feature?

When I posted this topic, I did not intend for a shouting match to insue, although I do appreciate all the information. It is interesting to read the different takes on different books. I am surely not a "bigtime" player, but I have fun placing wagers to make the game a little more interesting. I am a new member to bettorsworld and have learned quite a bit in my short stint. Don't worry betmaker, I won't take the money I make with you to another book.

I would suggest you to try WSEX or Intertops, like you, I started with GSC several years ago and I have used WSEX and Inertops later and I thought they should suit you.

Just some personal opinions,

obviously not most bettors are "bigtime" players and I don't think bushing some books for not catering high rollers will make much sense.

FYI, if you missed an acticle several weeks ago about Betmaker, here are some facts from you.

"Only about 100 of the company's regular bettors make wagers as high as $2,000, the house limit, he (the boss) said, but the average bet is $65."

I think they are trying to be more of a "public" book (kind of like Itops) nowadays, as you will see they have changed quite a lots since the days of GSC.

As far as the copycat lines goes, most if not all the books are doing the same. And most if not all the bettors will feel fine with that.

Only scalpers and middlers will have problems with that, and obviously not most of the books are opening lines for middlers and scalpers.

Oh btw, Mike, what's your time table for offering soccer betting? Heard it had been mentioned several times, but still not know much details about it.

As I read this thread, I was actually astonished, that a book would come in here and tell everybody what clients were bettting.

To state reno was betting $3k is truly noones business but his and who he bet it with, in this case you.

My question to betmaker is this, why the 4% hit on credit card transfers ?

To leo walters, who I have never directed anything to before, but have read almost every post or reply of his.

I respect you, and thus I will ask the questions that have not been asked here.

How much does a player need to open an account ?

Do you take credit card transfers ? If so how long til it is placed in the account.

I checked out the website, it is still under construction as of this posting. Anyidea when it will become available.

betmaker.com uses MPACT Media as our credit card clearing house. THEY are the ones responsible for the 4% charge on all credit card transactions. The percentage is actually higher, but we split the charge with our customers. I use IE5, don't know if it has anything to do about it.
