  • Only sportsbook to offer credit.............

Has anyone out there heard of a Jaguar Sportsbook in Costa Rica? They sent me some literature this week and was boasting the only sportsbook to offer credit matching the same amount of your deposits. Thus if you deposit 1,000, you would have 2,000 in your account to play with. They also have the best parlay odds.....6.5 for 3 teamers....the literature stuff looked really expensive(glossy brochures) and they are teaming up with American Airlines to offer travel miles with every bet you make thus they sound pretty legit......anyone else heard about them?

Although I have never heard of the book itself, there's two things I'd like to point out. First of all, the credit aspect seems a little suspicious. If you really think about it, would you want a book that gives out credit to everyone out there? It could, after all, be a problem to collect the debts later on. This would put the company's cash-flow at risk. Personally, I'd much prefer a book that takes deposits and has no such worries.

Here in England, it's possible to have credit accounts, but i think it's an entirely different scenario as I believe they only offer it to domestic clients and they do a thorough credit check as well.

On top of it all, I'd just like to mention that offering frequent flyer miles bears no significance to a company's legitimacy. You and I can buy these miles at "bulk" rate, say 5000 coupons of 500 miles each or something. They come quite cheap too.

i know nothing about Jaguar (good or bad), but this was posted here about a month ago explaining their offer:
---------------------------------------------Jaguar Matching Credit: Jaguar will match any deposit balance from the minimum of $1000 to a maximum of $50000, in even multiples of $1000, thus doubling the total available wagering dollars. The bettor then makes ten plays at one time, each one at 10% of his combined deposit and credit balance. Using a matched deposit balance of $1000, that equals ten plays of $200 each (or $2200 in total including the juice). The entire ten wagers are graded and posted when all the games are completed. No matter what the results are, the maximum amount that can be lost is the players $1000 deposit. The player is not required to pay back any losses exceeding his own deposit, which will occur starting at the point his game results are 2 and 8 or worse. He can go 0 and 10 on 10 $200 wagers and still only lose $1000. This of course significantly reduces Jaguars overall hold percentage. However the increased volume and customer acceptance makes it a worth while offer. On the other hand the player can win and collect the full value of his wagers, his best scenario being 10 and 0 for a win of $2000. The net result is that there is a limit on losses and no limit on wins. Jaguar has a number of players that regularly enjoy his offer. They feel it gives them the oportunity to have extra action and an increased overall potential win on many games without having to deposit additional funds should their early wagers lose. The wagering disadvantage is that the player will lose twice as much when he has game results anywhere from 5 and 5, to 3 and 7 since his bets are doubled. For new accounts, Jaguars 10% bonus can be included as part of their deposit for matching credit play. For example, a new player needs to put up only $900 to get 10 $200 plays.

Thank you for allowing Jaguar Sports International the opportunity to clarify these two popular offerings.

If I'm not mistaken Sting wrote something on them and warned against posting up with them. I can't recall why, but perhaps if Sting is reading he can repost his article.

I spoke to them as well. At the very least the "incentive" isn't really credit. It's much closer to matchplay. Obviously they've done their math and realize there not going to get hurt much by this. I know nothing else about them so I'd pass.
