  • Question for Chris at Victor Chandler

I happened to look at the Breeder's Cup Odds you have and it says:

    >>Each Way ¼ odds 1,2,3. Others on request. NRNB in event of NR, Rule 4 may apply<<

What exactly does this mean? What is NRNB, NR and Rule 4?

Also, can you just bet for place only finish or do you have to bet a horse eachway?

IMO, Talk Back and Borgia should finish in the top 3 but probably won't win.

Talk Back at 7-2 odds for a top 3 finish in the Juvenile is pretty damn good. I can't see Talk Back paying $9 to show on the parimutuel board if Chilukki is in the top 3.

Also just out of curiosity why is Brave Act 7-1 when he is a British horse and actually favored in the morning lines? Or is that a type-o?

    Hartley,

Firstly to deal with the abbreviations.

NRNB is non runner no bet - if your horse does not run then you get your stake back.

    NR is non runner.

Rule 4 is a reduction of odds dependant on the price of the withdrawn horse. This is a regular part of British Ante Post (futures) wagering and the reductions are according to the Tattersalls Rule 4 Deduction Chart as used throughout the UK betting industry.

I also checked out the odds for Brave Act and saw that Don Best had 12/1 for this horse - is your question that our odds are too high?

    Regards

    Phil

      Hartley,

      Sorry, I missed a question.

We will accept place or show bets at track odds but not on our 'futures' prices - these are 'each-way' only which for you guys is win AND show. The show part is calculated at ¼ of the win odds.

      Regards

      Phil

So you have to bet both win and top-3. Fair enough.

As for Brave Act, I don't know what Don Best had him at, but his opening odds on the pari-mutuel board (i.e. morning line odds) are 7-2 favorite.
