While it may not be unethical, I am getting tired of books bouncing around from 20 cent lines to 30 cent lines, or worse! I think there should be some consistency from week to week with WHEN lines are posted and WHAT lines are used. Example, Carib has bounced their golf lines from 20 cents to 30 cents, back and forth in the two months I've been with them. Sportingbet, which usually offers 20-25 cent lines and ties lose on 72-hole golf matchups, is now at 40 cent lines with ties lose this week. While I see this most in golf lines, the principle of it sucks and it could spread to bases ( evidently Carib bounced between 10,20 for a time last season ), FB, etc!!
My guess is that after a bad week in golf, when they get beat up a little, they switch to "rip off" lines to make up for their losses. They also post them later than usual, "pussies", to let other books absorb the early action so they get a "righted" line. Other books do this, not just the two I mentioned.
I worry that these practices, which I consider somewhat sleazy, will spread. Is it that wrong to want lines posted at the same time and same juice each week? That way we can evaluate whether we want to use that out, up front, not have to be d!cked around with later!
Another reason I like WSEX is they are VERY consistant about posting their lines!!
I don't have any complaint with reduced juice at pre-set times, like some of the FB deals offered, its the un-announced flopping I find distasteful.
