    WIMBLEDON PREVIEW COURTESY OF WAGERWEB

    By Dan Leach

It’s the greatest tennis tournament of them all. On top of everything else that is great about Wimbledon, there is tremendous value as far as wagering goes. One of the best things about tennis betting is being able to wager on each match, and there will be several players who won’t have enormous odds as they work their way through the tourney.

    MEN’S DRAW

Best Value Bets To Win It All

RAFAEL NADAL (15-1): Getting a player of Nadal’s caliber at 15-1 is never a bad bet, and yes he has had his struggles on grass, but this could be his breakthrough year on that surface.

TIM HENMAN (40-1): The perennial British hope always has a chance at the All England Club and has a favorable draw. The question is, will he implode once again in probably his last great chance at winning it?

MARAT SAFIN (40-1): Safin has played some great tennis this year, and even though he goes into Wimbledon unseeded, he has the game to win it all.

Best Value Bets Match By Match

JAMES BLAKE: Blake will be a big favorite in the first two rounds, but after that he will have great value as he looks to win his first major. (Predicted total wins: 4 or 5)

SEBASTIAN GROSJEAN: A semifinalist a couple of years ago, he always seems to bring his best on the grass. He will have some great value after the first round as well. (Predicted total wins: 3 to 4)

ANDRE AGASSI: In his final Wimbledon, look for Agassi to give it his all and also not have much respect from the oddsmakers. This could lead to actually getting Agassi as an underdog as early as the second round. (Predicted total wins: 4 to 5)

    WOMEN’S DRAW

Best Value Bets To Win It All

MARTINA HINGIS (8-1): The comeback has been excellent so far for Hingis. She has the game, confidence and desire to win this tournament, and with many women not nearly as good on grass as other surfaces, at these odds it’s a steal.

AMELIE MAURESMO (10-1): The world No. 1 is getting 10-1 odds? At first glance this seems like a steal, but of course we all know Mauresmo hasn’t had the best of luck on grass, but she has really upped her game recently and has what it takes to win this title.

PATTY SCHNYDER (75-1): She has been playing the best tennis of her career in recent months and could be a factor if there are upsets on her side of the draw, which seems to happen each year on the women’s side.

Best Value Bets Match By Match

JAMEA JACKSON: After a huge upset of Maria Sharapova in the DFS Classic, Jackson had a chance at her first career WTA title but ended up losing to Vera Zvonareva in a classic final. Jackson will have great value in all of her matches and could make a run (Predicted total wins: 3 to 4)

DINARA SAFINA: Marat Safin’s little sister has had an awesome 2006 thus far and just lost in the final of the Orinda Open, a Wimbledon tune-up, to Michaella Krajick. Safina will most likely be an underdog after the first round and has the game to create some huge upsets. (predicted total wins: 3 to 4)

SHAHAR PEER: The Israeli sensation comes into the tourney as the 20th seed but will get very little respect from the bookmakers. Peer could go on a deep run, considering her draw. If she gets to the third round, she could play Sharapova and would be a great value as an upset pick.
