Shop the lines, make more money, lose less! By Tony George It is time again to refresh your memory about lines. I have pasted in some of my previous points from past articles in this refresher for you, but many people, even some cappers I know, to this day, still handicap the games and not the lines. Power ratings are used to measure the "power number difference" against the spread to see a differential or overlay against the posted line. Nowadays those ratings and the difference between two teams is very close, but this is a MUST for serious cappers and players. Line value is important, very important. I handicap opening lines, and I assure you most of the guys that are legit do as well. I always have my own bets in NO LATER than 11 AM CST for Hoops or Bases with daily sports. I bet my football plays either Thursday or Friday for NFL and College. Early bird gets the worm on line value, have NO illusions! I refuse to let an uninformed public drive a line that I then have to play, or force a play that has lost line value.
Once again, shop your lines guys. There are numerous offshore books on-line that are SOLID. If you have less than 3 outlets, you are doing yourself harm. Why play the Reds at -145, when another book has them at -130? YOU ARE LEAVING MONEY ON THE TABLE! Why play the Lakers at -3.5, when another book has them at -3? Once again, you are doing yourself harm.
Look at the reverse, if you are against the Reds you get +145 versus +130 at a book, and if you are playing against the Lakers, you get an extra 1/2 point. How many times have you lost a bet by a half a point? If you are thruthful, like me, many times! You are INVESTING in our plays, and usually srutinize them daily, and I suggest being every bit as thourough in shopping the best lines for your plays, as soon as humanly possible. I know many of you buy plays and wager after work. You especially need more than one outlet. Look at College Basketball and the lines under 5 points on the weekends. A point here or a point or two there makes a HUGE difference in College Hoops and even more so in the NBA. Free Throws become very important in the last minute or so of tight games. I'd rather be getting 3 points instead of 2 points in that scenario and with 2 to 4 outlets, I'll BET YOU I can find a lower line somewhere. Each book has different lines because their action may be different than other books, and they are trying to balance the action evenly at their own book. You can take advantage of this. I assure all who read this that it is worth a minimum of +15 units in each sport, during a season, to shop you lines. Get serious, get informed, and profit larger by using this simple rule. Serious players know this, and if you are serious about gaining more units, you will follow my advice.
