This is so true. They won't even take bets when their Don Best goes down. Most books are complete jokes. You say maybe there are 10 real bm's. I say there are fewer than that because within that 10 you have guys who don't really book, they bet. I think there might be 5 real bookmakers out there.

I would think that after reading all these posts, articles, etc. etc. on this practice that the bookmakers would catch on and learn to book.

It is proven that this practice will put you out of business over the long haul.

We should all drop to our knees and be thankful that there are some inept Bookmakers.

I think so many times we get confused when we think each bookmaker should make his own lines. I think we should separate Bookmakers and linemakers. Yes, Some Bookmakers have the ability to make a great line.

I am not an authority on Bookmaking, but I knew there has to be a lot more involved than making a line. 30 years ago, there was 1 linemaker, but like today, many bookmakers.

Some Bookmakers have the ability to take the linemakers line and worked with it. I have tracked Henry at Pinnacle for several years in college football and on wednesday afternoon when he solidfies his numbers, they are 'tuff'. If his numbers are different then other places, he will be right a big percentage of the time.

I didn't think the bookmaker made a line "right" or "wrong" I thought you moved it based on the action you received and your judgement of how that line should be moved. So "right" is subjective in many cases. Someone with 500 customers may not move a line based on a 10,000 bet the same as someone with 5,000 customers would.....and it would depend on the amounts your customers usually bet.

So, if your line opens at 5 and you get no bets on it, it should still be 5 at game time, no matter if someone else has moved it to 6 or 7.

so stop using bookies and try person to person betting guys!
let the other bettors be the bookmaker.....try and exchange like Tradesports (aka TradebetX)..only place I now that is your teamn is losing you can sell out of your position...BIG players on US sports...not much else from Europe though.....
These guys are great.....i still have sportsbooks accounts!!! LoL
But seriously guys its a great way of getting better prices, and there are some real saps out there to take money off!
I made a fortune over the weekend trading Hamilton to win the British Open golf.....you could get +900 even though he led for the 3 days!!! they all expected Tiger or Phil to win!

What is the website address for TradebetX?? I've tried tradingsports.net which I think a bunch of big books are hooked up with, like cris and wwts. But I was very disappointed with it because it seems like there are only like 3 players using the service. I've had a few bets matched at decent prices but when you factor in their 5% you end up with the same price you could have gotten at the regular books. Is tradebetx busy?
